Yeah, word came down about Pillsbury while I was up for homecoming. Back in the day, Pillsbury was the only Baptist college that had a football team until we started one up.

If Pillsbury is selling their library, I hope LU is interested in buying it. Study

Most of Pillsbury's students will go to Northland and Maranatha as those are more traditional Bible colleges like Pillsbury.

Those schools aren't in much better shape than Pillsbury.

If I am not mistaken Maranatha has an increase in enrollment over the last couple of years.

Pillsbury closed over $300,000. You'd think their alumni could come up with that.

I thought the same about $300K but then I remember that was for bills this year, they would have to have more money for next year.
Also any ideal why ABBC closed? Or was it the same reason as the other bible schools closing, low enrollment, etc

Colleges are just getting too expensive these days. Ten years ago, there was a stigma associated with going to a community college, now, I think it is a perfectly legitimate option for getting a few (if not a lot) of credits to transfer to a different institution.

I mean, you don't really get into your major until your second or third year at Liberty. The bulk of classes you take beforehand (english 101 & 102, basic math, a science elective and such) basically amount to a drain on your wallet. You can pay $19,000 for 30 credits of classes you can take anywhere else at Vennard, or $3,000 for those classes at your local community college, and transfer them in.

Plus many people at my company got their bachelor's and master's for free thru the employer benefits program. My last educational discipline ended with graduation sevices in Hawaii, all paid by my employer. :D

It just doesn't make sense that the cost of tuition keeps going up, while the economy keeps going down. Trying to talk people into looking at Liberty here in middle Georgia (where the economy is doing pretty well), is like trying to sell someone an SUV that gets 8 miles to the gallon. People just don't want to commit that kind of money right now. There kids LOVE the college, the parents would struggle but could afford it right now, but the parents are nervous about the economy. Many want their kids to spend 1-2 years taking classes locally, and then consider transferring into Liberty. The problem is that after a year or two, most kids lose the desire to go to Liberty. They have jobs, and usually get caught in the "buying" mode (i.e. car, clothes, etc.) and are not willing to give up that lifestyle to move into a dorm with kids that are most likely to be younger than them now.

It is too bad, because many of these kids would fit in AWESOMELY at Liberty and it would do them a WORLD of good to get away from their family and friends in an environment like Liberty! I hope that one day the dream of Jerry's billion dollar endowment will be realized and Liberty can make it an affordable choice for anyone.

but the thing is, kids who go to a 40k or more school will be looking to go cheaper too, so liberty will, in theory, be able to get more of the kids who go to the REALLY expensive schools...

Actually, it's simple. The cost of college has risen in proportion to the government's attempts at curbing the cost of college.

I know... Totally on the money right here.

True, which is why Liberty needs to loosen up its on-campus rules (if they haven't already). Even if they're collecting off-campus tuition, at least they're getting something.

Hey, Harvard's got a $25 billion endowment, and it's not even close to affordable. You'd be better off buying a Porsche and driving it off a cliff every year for four years.
