I'm leaving tomorrow night around 11pm to head to Key Largo, Florida. We're driving the entire way (somewhere between 11-13 hours, depending on how many times we stop and junk). We're taking the laptop but I'm not sure if we'll have internet access or not. It won't be as bad as when Medic left, but I just thought I'd let anyone who cares know.

I get to drive over this, which will surely freak my mom out:

Here's the beach from the place we're staying:

The amazing thing is, since we're driving, it's something like $1000 cheaper for us to stay in Key Largo for a week than to stay in Myrtle Beach. It's the off season down there so the prices are better.

Probably a good idea to avoid Myrtle this next couple of weeks. You certainly don't want to be down there with all those 18 year old girls away from daddy for the first time as they experiment with adult beverages and the things to go along with it. Nope, SJ, don't want to be down there at all.

SJ's thought process: "Hmmm. Loose chicks back in Myrtle or the thriving gay scene of the Florida Keys? What's a guy to do? Better yet, who's a guy to do?"

You would think MB would be a much better place to recruit the Pfuture Phanatics.

It's kind of different after you've lived in Myrtle Beach.

I do hear you, SJ. I grew up in Charleston and eventually got sick of Myrtle all the way from there. After that Shag movie came out, the Strand went from 'crowded but fun' to 'downright ridiculous for-the-love-of-God-don't-you-people-ever-leave'. Unfortunately, the quiet little barrier islands and coastal towns all the way down Highway 1 through Savannah are going the same way. I tell people it's a nice place to be from.

The running thing in real estate circles at Myrtle is that the Grand Strand is going to run from Wilmington to Charleston not too long from now.

I'll take Myrtle Beach (went there with the marching band in 04). Man to be able to head to the beach every day...

This was probably the worst of time to be down here. Were already getting some of the effects from the tropical storm even though were about 3 hours north of Largo. Living close to a beach gets old after awhile man. Between the vacationers and the snowbirds, its getting overcrowded down here pretty quick, plus the cost of living is rediculous. Trust me I'd rather be in Southern Virginia, rather than Florida anyday.

There aren't snowbirds & tourists on the beach here in Texas.

Yeh the only problem with Texas beaches was the water was discolored and brown. Corpus was somewhat decent with the water color. I think it had to do with something about the current in the gulf and the Mississipi river. Speaking of which, did you happen to make it down to Corpus for Clemon's games with the minor league team?

No, I was producing our half-hour show Sunday. I still haven't been to a game at Whataburger Field yet. I thought I might be going to Round Rock this Friday for Rocket's final minor league start. But instead I'll be anchoring while one of the other guys heads over to my old stomping grounds.

We got a little rain on Sunday and cloudy until Monday. Other than that Alberto didn't touch us at all.

I'd rather be in Myrtle, there's nothing to do here at all unless you own a boat. I dread the drive back to NC on Saturday. 14 friggin hours.
