I got hooked last summer, we really have some great trails around here, I've played pretty much every sport but very few rushes can compare to being on the side of a cliff....

just wanted to see if anyone else hits the trails every now and then

We recently saw a commercial for a bike that shifts automatically- have to check out the website once I find that piece of paper.... My bike is a Schwin Worldsport- not made any more. I got it more than dec. ago from guy I had been close friends with; he was 37, I was 24 but he blew me away on the bikes; had a friend in Spfld.,MA that rode bike a lot. Great exercise but I'd need a seat for my 3yr. old right now.

We have 2 very nice bikes that currently sit in our garage. I ride about once a year in Lynchburg but when we lived in Northern VA we used to go on the many trails up there including the W O and D trail from Purceville, VA 45 miles outside of DC all the way into the District. The Custis Trail intersects with it and runs along Rt 66 in Arlington and Falls Church. Then you can ride along the Potomac River on the GW Parkway not to mention riding through Rock Creek Park and going out to the Mormon Temple in Bethesda MD. I have touched every part of those trails. My longest ride was about 65-70 miles in one day. Didn't really set out to do that but when you go out 35 miles, you have to come back 35 miles. HMO I won't go off road with you because my bike is a hybrid (part racing part mountain), but I wouldn't mind hitting the paved trails like the Black Water creek. Maybe I can dust off the bike this weekend. I love riding but Mrs SCAR has kind of lost the desire to sit on a bike for 3-5 hours in the heat.

that sounds great scar, even though there are a few trials at Blackwater Creek that are REALLY easy and even my girl friend did them with me, so that should tell you something, but yeah let's hit the road sometime man

No doubt. You can borrow Mrs SCAR's bike if you ask her nicely. I don't know if she will ever ride again. Don't worry it is not a girls bike. It is exactly like mine but a little shorter. I say that because being on a paved trail on a mountain bike can be frustrating (at least for me) because you can't go as fast. That is why I got a hybrid. Can't go as fast as a racing bike but you can move pretty well on paved road.

I have a Cannondale lying in my basement in about 30 pieces courtesy of the kid who T-boned me coming out of the new, 1-story DeMoss bldg. Haven't put it back together , let alone ridden it, since LU security dragged all the parts outta the back of the pickup truck back in '89.

come to think of it- the 80's were a bad decade for me.

Good thing he didn't rear end you. Then you would have a Brokeback Mountain Bike.

I've got an old school Schwinn CrissCross hybrid that I haven't ridden since before my 4-year-old was born. I used to love riding trails when I was over in the Austin area. Now that I am in flat as a pancake Houston there isn't much to get me stoked. I wouldn't mind picking up a road bike. I used to see Lance Armstrong training around Austin all the time and the sport was HUGE there as a result.
