Ok, no cheating. Here's the deal: one person will post lyrics with holes in them, you must fill in the blank. After you fill the blanks in, you hafta put your own version as well. I'll start:
You don't ____ on _____ ____. You don't ____ into the _____. You don't pull the _____ off the ole ____ ____, and you don't ____ _____ with Jim.

does it say something about my psyche if it would be inappropriate to print the first thing that came to mind for those blanks? I think you're sabotoging my brain, man- freaky...

You don't pull on Superman's cape. You don't spit into the wind. You don't pull the mask off the ole Lone Ranger, and you don't mess around with Jim. Classic.
My turn.
Well the _____ came around in the middle of the ____
Heard ____ ____', knew something wasn't right
He was headed down to _____ with the weekly load
You could smell the _____ burnin' down ______ _____

*new rule*
you have to give the song/artist with your answer because I have a feeling I won't know any of these. Are they popular?

It ain't Jim Croce but it's the same era.
Hint: It's a Stevie Earl song and it's playing on 96.3 like every five minutes.

Scar, I think 'Welcome Back, Kotter' may be just as lost on LUConn as 'Copperhead Road'.

I also refuse. Different principle.
In high school, I had a stalker who sang that song to me the night I graduated. I didn't like MWS to begin w/ but she ruined the whole high-pitched male vocal genre for me forever. Vince Gill, BeeGees, Michael Jackson, Dave Matthews, John Mayer, etc., --- even Jimmy Fallon --- it's all like nails on a chalkboard to me.
Or maybe it's because all those guys are frickin' soccer player poser douchebags? Oh, well. She's probably somehow responsible for that, too.

man you guys are really funny. I am laughing at each post I read today. This is a really good thread. I didn't think about Luconn's age when I put the Welcome Back song on there. I wish someone would put the words to Oops I did it again. I tried but I got lost in the game, Oh baby, baby.

I was working at a country station in Cincinnati when Steve Earle's single was racing up the C&W charts. It was one of the few songs I could find bearable to listen to while I was jocking.
Cool thread BTW.

Bingo, Medic! Right on the money.
Interesting sidenote: My wife's family is from central TN. Central TN is very nearly another planet and, to this day, they still have 'shiners, runners and revenuers.
