The Obama campaign has purchased space in the popular Xbox 360 game “Madden NFL 09″ and nine other titles by video game maker Electronic Arts, said Holly Rockwood, the company’s director of corporate communications.
Only gamers playing online in 10 states can see the ads, which appear as stadium signage or billboards, Rockwood said. (The ads are downloaded when gamers log on to the Xbox Internet service.) Unsurprisingly, all 10 states are swing states: Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Indiana, Montana, North Carolina, New Mexico, Nevada, Ohio and Wisconsin. President Bush won all of those states in 2004 except for Wisconsin.
The ads began running Oct. 6 and will be visible until Nov. 3, the day before Election Day, Rockwood said.

yeah...I agree...it seems very odd to me actually....
and yes SJ, this was a very smart move..kind of...I say kind of because when I play video games with ads in the background I don't even pay attention to it...but I am sure not all people all that way

Some people see ads and don't recognize it immediately but see it subconsciously. It's not a "look at me" thing but more of something to remind you of it later.

Depends on what games....i would love to know the demographic stats on some of them. I mean Madden 09 is played by a lot of 15 year olds too.

Like Fumble said, it's financed by all the oil money from his "friends" in the Middle East.

And also charging people's credit cards without their knowledge. Be sure to check your statements, it's happening.

Nothing like the right playing the friends with oil card, huh? If I remember correctly, haven't there been a couple ties to big oil on the Republican side in recent years?

while this is not the definition of subliminal messaging, although similar, multiple studies have proven that subliminal messaging doesn't work. so i don't really see how this will be all that effective.

Its a clever Idea, but I dont think it will work. One has to also think of all the liberals that love this guy for no reason, and whether he actually paid for it or if some liberal game designer just put it in for him

Check out moveon.org. That is how he has his money - people giving $20 - $75 dollars added up quickly. It was created for the Clinton Era to move on, but now is the sole reason the democrats have so much money to spend. Republicans started their own movement this year in Gopac.org.
