So far I can't take Joe seriously because of how he clearly was against Obama as president...now Obama is perfect.

That really has nothing to do with this debate. I do think Palin is doing a good job holding her own, much better then I think people expected. Joe hasn't said anything yet to make himself look too bad...except for that little fact that he once said Obama wasn't ready.....haha

I think McCain/Palin need to harp on the whole "Change" thing.

When you look at Biden he fits the stereotype perfectly of what you think a career politician looks/acts like. He's it, every political movie EVER has a character that Biden could play and win an award for.

Palin the first third of the debate, Biden the second-third (dealing w/ foreign policy) and Palin the last part. She did a better job connecting with voters, by far. She came across as more likeable, Biden came across as a career senator.

I give the nod to Palin for winning the debate; one pundit who I respect scored it a tie (which means yes, Palin won the debate, because the media always docks a point from the republicans).

Is there seriously any chance for our media to get on the same page?

Seriously, someone out there is purposefully lying or taking samples from people they can predict the answer from. I'm tired of turning it to Fox and seeing "knock out" and everyone on CNN saying "Knock out" but for different people.

Honestly I'm watching more CNN now b/c I can gauge how well we're (Republican's) are doing by how much whining the commentators are doing

Honestly, I wasn't all that thrilled with Palin in this. She wouldn't answer the questions, because clearly she didn't have a good answer. There were so many points where she could have absolutely hammered Biden/Obama, but because she works for McCain, she didn't go anywhere near them. I think the required support for McCain really hurts her in trying to "debate" a point. McCain's refusal to expound conservative ideology to the listener's ear is what's keeping people from flocking to him, and there were times when Palin obviously couldn't say what she really wanted to, because it would oppose McCain's own platform and strategy.

And the Obama/Biden ticket is completely upside-down, Biden is much more a presidential candidate than Obama.

Palin did, however, knock the ball out of the park with her closing statement, I thought it was excellent.

I am so LUCKY I turned to Hannity & Colmes b/c Sean completely blasted that woman who's been going around with Katie Couric saying how "Palin doesnt know the answers" by asking her a question there was no way she could know and made her feel about a inch big...it was the single greatest thing I've seen in a long time

the question was, How much of the total tax dollars do the bottom 50% of tax payers contribute....the answer is 2.9%

It was a "gotcha" question that gave her what she's been dishing out for several weeks now

She was...

hence when they first shook hands she asked him "do you mind if I call you Joe" he said no problem and she thought "yea! I have something for that!"

I thought Palin set herself up well for future politics. She went head-toe on policy discussions with a 35 year senator and admitted differences between her and McCain in a respectful manner. Biden was a weasel for denying what he previously said about Obama in the democratic debates. Boy can Sarah connect with people, notice the winks and nods. Brian Williams compared her and the gipper in that regard.

Biden did what he set out to accomplish - link McCain and Bush, but Palin was the big story and people will talk about her performance far beyond this election. Unfortunately we will have to wait for future elections to see the dividends.

ST. LOUIS — Sarah Palin was supposed to fall off the stage at her vice presidential debate Thursday evening. Instead, she ended up dominating it.

She not only kept Joe Biden on the defensive for much of the debate, she not only repeatedly attacked Barack Obama, but she looked like she was enjoying herself while doing it.

She smiled. She faced the camera. She was warm. She was human. Gosh and golly, she even dropped a bunch of g’s.
For anyone who missed the debates, Roger Simon of the Politico has a pretty decent review from a main stream outlet.

I don't read any of those reviews as it just reflects which party they want to win. I'll tell you though, this morning all the people who are fence riders at work are now leaning towards Obama's camp. Just about everyone thought that she came across as ignorant, and I have to agree.

You have waaaay too high an expectation for political discourse, Al. Nobody actually debates anymore nor do they actually answer questions. It's all about hammering home the official talking points and taking the occasional cheap shot.

In any event, vice-presidential debates have become, more or less, the swimsuit competition of the political beauty pageant. It doesn't really matter b/c the VP never makes a decision anyway and it's only function is to draw in a couple extra viewers who wouldn't normally be watching. At least, nobody was twirling a baton or singing opera.
