Sonic Drive-Thru

Question: I'm at the drive-thru at Sonic (not the area where I park my car and have the waitress bring my food -- the drive-thru) and I order. The girl comes up to my car after a rather long time, gives me my food, I pay, and drive away.

That caused a bit of a stir with my wife.

Long story short -- yes or no. Do you tip the girls at the drive-thru at Sonic?

I was going to search for that thread. I knew we'd discussed this a while back.

EDIT: Apparently you guys had the discussion and I read it. Also, by looking at the poll results the previous thread must have convinced some here not to tip...

i just solve that problem by not going to sonic at all because its by far one of the most overrated places i've ever been too.....terrible food and ridiculous prices...

Technically you should.

Rule is - if they bring you food - you tip.

Now - I checked no - because I don't tip there:) It's still fast food to me and it's not fast there.

So, you'd tip at the Dairy Queen Grill & Chill's since they bring your food to your table?

Fast food workers in Lynchburg, for the most part, have IQ levels that barely allow their bodies to perform basic functions. The Forest Sonic is where it's at.

i'm nowhere near lynchburg.

and regardless their food is nearly tasteless

sonic is ok, but fast food folks dont get tips from me. if all you do is bring me my food and nothing else, you are simply doing your job, at the bare minimum, thus not doing anything deserving of a tip.

restaurant waiters/waitresses get tips, not fast food people, because most of them do more than just bring you your food and nothing else.

this is all i ever hear when people defend them.

and sonic can afford to do happy hour because it only serves like 4-5 people within that hour

Well they do. Their chili pie was good. But they don't have it anymore. And their chili and cheese tots used to be good but I think they changed both the kind of chili and cheese they use. Now it's just ok.
