Ok...I just recently started to follow this guy more and more...he's done some impressive things...heck with all the commercials I've seen I thought he was running for president. What does he personally gain from switching to solar, wind and natural gas or does he just want to see America change?

I knew this was an oil guy but dont really know why he's trying to get everyone to change rather than make himself richer.

Does he have those companies as well? I think the guy means well...I think he's certainly going to make money off any direction America moves....although any good businessman would as well.

You can't blame a guy for wanting to make money...thats basically what capitalism is. I'm behind him in his campaign for a switch. I wonder how involved he is with natural gas though, since thats what he's pushing for cars.

Among other things...he donated a pot-load of $$ to Oklahoma State University.

I just saw a commercial with Aurbey McClendon (Sp?) who is the CEO for Chesapeake Natural Gas who is considered one of the better CEO's and Natural Gas company's around asking for everyone to get behind T. Boone Pickens and his push for change.

He mentioned how you could have a refilling station at your house if you have natural gas and convert your car over to it...how tight would that be to fill up when you get home for the day

For the record, natural gas prices are going through the roof right now. Just wait until the heating bills come in the Northeast this winter.

I don't have time to discuss in detail right now, but........currently, his wind company is not profitable. If the federal government subsidizes wind energy, his company immediately becomes profitable. In the interim, environmentalists that want the United States to get off of oil will continue to make a push to use natural gas (another fossil fuel, yet greens think its cleaner)in the interim. He controls many natural gas leases and stands to make a lot of money off of a major push to use natural gas for transportation. When Mr. Pickens dies, Oklahoma State University athletic department may be the first to ever receive a donation in excess of $1 Billion.

The reality of wind energy is that it is not a reliable and cost effective solution. The United States needs to drill, build nuclear reactors, and develop electric cars. We should continue to develop each of the other types of energy, but don't hold your breath waiting for any of the 'clean, renewable sources" to become a dominant supplier of energy in the next 30 years.

As usual, I think you summed it up nicely!

I don't know enough to comment on the validity of his claims but I like Picken's response to those saying he's in this to make a quick profit for his companies. It went something like "I'm 80 years old and already worth 3 billion dollars, what do I need more money for."

Because 4 billion is more than 3 billion.

whats another billion going to do for you though, especially at that age? i'm sure with 3 billion he can pretty much afford to do anything he wants.

When I've got a spare billion, I'll let you know. I bet it's pretty cool.

i just looked at his website and what he says makes sense. I wonder where his numbers come from and how accurate they are. I'd like to see someone analyze this plan and point out all the problems with it because if it looks to good to be true it is, so I want to know what is wrong with it
