thepostman wrote: September 17th, 2020, 9:08 pm How can you say it is good or bad? Nobody even knows what it is. Pointing out our greatness and our flaws should all be discussed. If it isn't then we can't continue to become better. The 1619 project isn't even that wide spread but the concerns are valid. I just don't want a over correction.

But I'm pretty sure this is just pandering and nothing more.
Oh it’s pandering

This is probably the most human I've ever seen Trump. Seemed legit sad to hear the news.

Agreed. I'd like to see that side of Trunp more often.

But mark it down, I'm not always critical of Trump! :D

I still haven't actually seen this plan really spelled out and at 500B that is kind of important.

There was that lady at Trumps round table a couple of months ago whose words keep coming back to me. She said (in effect) it doesn’t matter how much money the Federal Government gives to help minorities in Enterprise Sones or loans etc. It still has to go through the same local politicians who help cause the problems. The same politicians who line the pockets of their friends and donors and the good intentioned money from DC never makes it to the people who really need it. She said there needs to be a way to bypass those local Politicians. I had NEVER thought of it that way, but man it made sense. Then in true Super John fashion I flashed back to a TV show. But this one was The Wire.

Yeah, money has been funneling into low income/minority communities for years and little has changed orher then a few success stories here and there.

500B is a ton of money and with very little details given it is clear to be more pandering.

Did Trump pander this much 4 years ago? I don't remember him doing it this much but my memory is terrible. Haha

I think It's 50B. Could reach 500B. Makes more sence than reparations? It's always better to provide a path to sucess via an entrepreneurship opportunity or a good job.

Bless your heart @TH Spangler

Until I see a real plan, I see this nothing more than poltics as usual. Something Trump has often spoke out against. The money won't get to those who need is most and the federal government will continue to spend even more money than we have on hand.

Gotta love this "conservative" president!

Ok. So early on in the ACB nomination I’m seeing criticism of her using her adopted kids from Haiti and kid with Down Syndrome as props and lots of call that we are going to become Gilead and all women’s Rights will be overturned. Which I find odd. Why would one of 3 female SCOTUS Justices rule to take the right of women to vote or own property away
I am seeing a little about her “only” Ewing on the bench 3 years but Kegan never was on the Bench. So...l

The shots at ACB are so off base. Disagree with her stance on issues, sure. But people are going after her religious beliefs and family. That’s wrong.

agreed. Disagree with her on issues. Fine but the stuff I have seen people say about her family have been disgusting.

I hate poltics.

Absolutely agree. I believe I said earlier that the Democrats need to go after the process but won’t be able to help themselves
Putting her out front today was a brilliant stroke. You saw her as a person before the opposition sank their claws in her. You didn’t get that with Kavanaugh. It’s going to be hard to paint her as a wild eyed zealot.

ballcoach15 wrote: September 18th, 2020, 7:53 pm If truth be known, Trump has done more for blacks than any President in many years.
How?
“Before Covid, African Americans were experiencing the best economy we have ever seen: Unemployment for our racial group was the lowest in recorded history, black wages were rapidly increasing for the first time in decades, and people who’d been out of work long-term were being hired and suddenly able to take their families on vacations for the first time in years.
The Trump policies made it possible. Tax cuts and rocketing GDP growth meant companies were feeling financially stable for the first time in a decade and public confidence in our economy had never been higher. Trump’s re-election was on cruise control. Even Democrats were willing to admit that the chances of Trump losing were slim.
His recent police-reform executive order, the First Step Act, released thousands of people from jail (90 percent of whom were black). He has promoted “opportunity zones” that incentivized private investment into marginalized communities, and also increased federal funding to historically black colleges and universities by 17 percent — a total exceeding $100 million, more than any president in history. Meanwhile, the Obama administration infamously removed a two-year Bush-administration program that funded $85 million to those prized institutions” -NY Post 7/4/20
