LOL... Airing dirty laundry in an open forum... using the first name of someone who hasn't identified themselves online... this has gotten ugly....

Reminds me of Happy Gilmore and Bob Barker

Do you mean that you haven't seen any ACC games in HD or you haven't seen ANY games in HD on WDBJ?

If it is the former, I believe it has something to do with Jefferson Pilot/ Raycom. The national CBS games are in HD, but WDBJ picks up ACC games through JP, so they may not send it in HD yet. They may have stepped up for the tournament.

i was referring to local games on WDBJ...that are done by Jefferson Pilot, i figured they just stepped it up for the tourney but didn't know.

Update: Comdelphia just added ABC, NBC, TNT, Discovery, ESPN and several movie channels in HD (although I'm not yet getting any audio or video on the ESPNs or Discovery)

Just noticed this myself. The lineup (at least mine) now consists of ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, TNT, Discovery, ESPN, ESPN2, Discovery, HBO and Showtime all in HD. For some reason, like you said, ESPN, ESPN2 and Discovery aren't working yet. I was really wanting to watch some ESPN in HD. BTW, the ACC Tourney is being broadcast in HD on 707 (CBS). It's just not listed in the program guide.

Anybody know if they're gonna start charging us extra for the HD channels? I know that in the market I was in before, HD was a premium package. I haven't paid anything extra, aside from my DVR fees. Any information would be appreciated. I told my dad about the free HD thing and he said he figured they'd throw it in free for a month or so then take it away to lure people into purchasing it.

I was told by one of our local Comcast representatives that there isn't an HD package, that you need only rent the box to get the channels. This seems to be mostly true, as I get the networks, TNT and Discovery, but ESPN and ESPN2 seem to require a special subscription on my end. I don't subscribe to any movie channels, so I'm obviously not getting those in HD.

Ok, sounds good to me. ESPN and ESPN2 may very well require a special subscription. They were in my channel list yesterday morning but were not coming in. Yesterday evening, they were gone when I scrolled through channels. I was really hoping to watch some baseball in HD. Guess I'm gonna have to call and find out how much I need to pay in order to get them. If it's like $5 I'll probably just bite the bullet...

Called Comcast last night. Apparently ESPNHD and ESPN2HD are on their own separate HD package which costs $5 per month. I will probably just go ahead and get them. Thought I'd pass along the information for anyone who is interested. BTW, the number for Comcast escapes me but can be found by tuning to channel 772/773.

Thanks for the info. BTW, their number is either 800-COMCAST or 888-COMCAST. I'm pretty sure I've seen both.

CBS is supposed to be broadcasting the tourney in HD but mine isn't coming in. Channel 707 (CBSHD) is coming in in standard definition with the vertical bars on each side. Anybody else experiencing this? BTW, I ordered ESPNHD on Sunday. I've called Comcast everyday because it's not working. Just spend 1/2 hour on the phone with them and they now tell me they can't find the code for it. I was told they'd have my local office (Lynchburg) call me within 24-48 hours. Kinda frustrating.

I'm in Hampton Roads and CBS was that way for me too... My guess is that their HD crews are at select sites... Just a guess though... I'd imagine we'll see full HD in some locations but not others and as the tourney gets going we'll see HD in all cities b/c there will be fewer crews needed... But I'm not on staff at CBS and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Select last night.

The strange thing was the CBS crew introduced the Duke game as being in High Definition while the HD logo was shown at the bottom of the court. Very odd for me. I found a new channel (to me anyway) MyNet on channel 180 which was broadcasting the CBS games in HD. I had never heard of this channel before. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MyNetworkTV

If you have HD, i got channel 7.1 game at 7pm not in HD, but when the 9:40 ( or late game ) came on it was in HD.....7.2 also had coverage of another regional game ( west coast mostly it seemed, but not in HD). So HD did allow you to watch two games instead of just one if it was a blowout, and we had a few yesterday.

I noticed some of the first-round games were in SD (the UVA game, for instance), and I figured, like Tally, that the HD was only being used in select locations (most likely due to limited availability/budget issues). Disappointing, although as far as I know all the games are being shown in HD now.

Back on topic...

I just got the HD connection through my DirecTV today and all I can say is...

With simple indoor rabbit ear's for $38 from WalMart, I am able to pick up the over-the-air HD channels, except for channel 10. That means...
...MASTERS IN HD. FWIW, the 7.1 signal gives a much better picture than the DirecTV channel 74 that is also showing the USA Network feed in HD. I also got the SuperFan pack for the MLB package so I can see some of those games in HD. When my wife can tell a big difference, that is huge.

Congrats, Fumble! The MLB season is a week old, and I still haven't seen my first Oriole game. Here's to hoping that Comcast or WDRL shows me something soon.

Comcast will be interesting. What sports channel do they show...oh, let me guess, COMCAST (and I imagine, NOT the MASN, which the O's bolted to...and partially own). May I recommend a DirecTV subscription...
...you could earn $50 the easy way!
