Considering that (according to the other blog I posted) everyone on the board pledges confidentiality, there are three possibilities:

1) (and the one I think many around here are considering) Pastor Lumpkins is lying and this is going to lead to some legal action on the part of the school
2) The school is lying which would be a MAJOR PR hit but since these minutes are confidential Id say this one wont be considered as much (except by the people who have swallowed what Pastor Lumpkins has posted), but the person who leaked the info (if it were true) would probably not be on the board anymore
My guess is BOTH. Strictly speaking, Lumpkin is lying if even one board member voted in favor of Driscoll's invitation. This absolute statement opened himself up to scrutiny, and in every Public defense of itself toward Lumpkin, Liberty reiterates the use of the term "unanimous." My guess is the trustees were probably genuinely split over the whole thing. And, it sounds like one of the discouraged may have leaked info. But "unanimously opposed" reads better and creates better controversy, so Lumpkin exaggerated.

As polarizing a figure as I'm learning Driscoll is, it's hard for me to believe that noNe of the trustees disapproved.

As I heard the story, the actual term was used. Jon or one of the other former LUnatics could better explain how it happened

Im Sch14 and I like to boost my own ego by overanalyzing BJ's posts to compensate for my own shortcomings

that is not a controversy. the internet at large and the media doesn't care what we say (or don't say) at sporting events.

The best thing about 2008 was reading some of the posts by Fumble. I really miss him.

If Liberty allows David Nasser, then what is the difference between he and Driscoll? This is a stupid debate, especially when we have allowed speakers from other faiths all together to speak from our pulpit.

3) BOTH as JK noted.

This story hasnt gotten much traction in media circles so at this point Im guessing this can just die a slow death.

In my opinion, it's different when it's a pastor. And if he's coming here with his wife, then it may be part of his book tour, and his latest book is a big part of the problem. The whole swearing thing is way in the past (though one I don't think he ever repented of), but some of his latest antics are cause for concern, including this book.

Not horrible, but he creates a really weird schematic in it for determining when something is okay within marriage. I really liked some of his earlier stuff, but as far as recent marriage books go, read the Tim Keller one instead.

Ding ding ding! We have a winner. And as to the Keller book, one of the best books I have ever read, regardless of topic. Everyone should read it.

you are right, i'm not sure that book exists. but regardless, in the end, who wants to do that to the mother of their children. the woman that cooks you breakfast. this is a family, not an episode of Oz.

You prove me wrong, you don't know the answer. Driscoll is all about the no-no.
