Considering that (according to the other blog I posted) everyone on the board pledges confidentiality, there are three possibilities:
1) (and the one I think many around here are considering) Pastor Lumpkins is lying and this is going to lead to some legal action on the part of the school
2) The school is lying which would be a MAJOR PR hit but since these minutes are confidential Id say this one wont be considered as much (except by the people who have swallowed what Pastor Lumpkins has posted), but the person who leaked the info (if it were true) would probably not be on the board anymore
My guess is BOTH. Strictly speaking, Lumpkin is lying if even one board member voted in favor of Driscoll's invitation. This absolute statement opened himself up to scrutiny, and in every Public defense of itself toward Lumpkin, Liberty reiterates the use of the term "unanimous." My guess is the trustees were probably genuinely split over the whole thing. And, it sounds like one of the discouraged may have leaked info. But "unanimously opposed" reads better and creates better controversy, so Lumpkin exaggerated.
As polarizing a figure as I'm learning Driscoll is, it's hard for me to believe that noNe of the trustees disapproved.
