Did you catch the Trump Round/Straight table this week. I only caught a few minutes as I mentioned earlier but the point was brought up and addressed. Wish I knew the lady’s name cause she was awesome. She said empowerment zones etc are great but the money has to go through the local politicians and that’s where the problems lay. That the people who the money is designed for don’t get it because they don’t know how to access it and the more well heeled get the money. Ben Carson replies that they are revamping the way those funds will be distributed and made available to the people it’s intended to help. I thought it was a great idea. But I’m more of a solution than platitudes guy myself.

I saw it and I heard her LOUD AND CLEAR. Big thumbs up!

JC, tell Nike, Apple and Delta to pay equally, and bring good jobs home. Fix mortgage lending, and voting. I don't think that is REALLY very high on the liberal list of things to do.

You know, the only plan I've heard from the left is to offshore our work, tax the heck out of the multinationals when the goods come back. Redistribute the money via free paychecks from the government. Legalize marijuana, everybody get high and do what the government tells you. You can't make this stuff up? Call me Tucker.

I'm all for legalizing marijuana and taxing the crap out of it. We need a way to pay for the things the country needs and that seems like a really easy way to make the government some money. RJ Reynolds here is just waiting for it to be legal. They've got everything ready to start producing marijuana cigarettes and create jobs.

While they're at it, release non-violent marijuana convicts from prison. We'll save a ton of money there too.

Also - you keep coming back to this us vs them mindset which is what's ruining the country. Liberals might not care about fixing mortgage lending and voting. Conservatives definitely haven't been at the forefront either. It's a governmental and power issue. Neither side of the political class actually cares about minorities. If they did, these things would've been fixed already.

Tobacco killed millions. Goverment enjoyed the tax money from it until emphysema quit killing them fast enough and the government started paying more in healthcare cost from it than it could collect in taxes.

The goverment save us from big bad RJR once already.

My mom died of lung cancer. I’m about as anti-smoking as anyone you’ll meet.

Just because it’s unhealthy doesn’t mean it should be illegal. Let’s ban McDonald’s too.

I'll answer it since I'm not part of either party for this very reason. The over reach of the federal government has gotten completely out of hand. I'm a bit more "liberal" with local government but the federal government has long over reached its constitutional power. I was part of the republican party because I thought that is what they stood for but that is clearly not the case. They simply redirect money elsewhere.

This statement is exactly why I hope the Thomas Massies' of the Republican Party do what Bernie Sanders and AOC did to the Democratic party. Republicans need to be about conserving what is good and virtuous in society, while keeping us safe from the tyrannical predations of government.

I am sure there will be criticism but this is probably the right move and indicates nobody really thought it through. They had an available date on their calendar and it worked out. I think this is the right move as I have a feeling the reaction of him going there would've far worse than the reaction to postponing it will be.

I’m ambivalent one way or the other. But it is an indication that he listens. I think the criticism now will be he shouldn’t have done it in the first place, etc. No recognition that he actually heeded the request to reschedule as a good thing. Just “Orange Man Bad”

He deserves both:

Credit for listening and moving it.

Criticism because it further proves he didn’t think it through to begin with. I don’t think that was intentional, just tone deaf.

@Purple Haize you may need to strap in because as the year goes on, the criticism will only get louder and louder as we get closer to election day.

Trump will engage it like he always does just to get his based fired up.

Oh I know it. What makes Trump different than Romney McCain or W is that he fights back. He steps into their ring with their rules and dukes it out. Is it ugly uncouth and messy? Yep. But without that we would have President Hillary Rodham Clinton. IMO you take the good with the bad.

I firmly believe Hillary would have lost regardless. She was a terrible candidate. But that is just an opinion based on absolutely zero research. Haha.

I’ll take your 0 Research. But I’m not sure she could have beta Jeb! Or Cruz. Or Kasich. The Republican base wouldn’t have come out. None could have wine PA WI MI OH NC and FL. Looking at the map again, Trumps victory was pretty impressive and decisive

You mean like they did with McCain and Romney for Obama?

Conservatives didn't dislike Obama the same way they dislike Hillary. It isn't anywhere close. To the point that some still can't stop talking about her and how awful she was/is.

But Women and Liberals loved her. She had great turn out nationally. IMO it’s rewriting history to say any other Republican could have beaten her. It shows how short term America’s memory is. No Republican candidate could have gotten people out in those key States like a Trump did. If so I’d like to know which one you think could have done the same

Maybe. Maybe not. We don't know and are just kind of guessing. There were a portion of Republicans/conservatives who voted 3rd party or just stayed home. Was that enough to help another candidate? Who knows. I also thought Trump had no chance to win the nomination so clearly my hunches aren't very good. Haha
