My mom went out and tried to catch up with her to see if we could help her, but she was gone. We left the church shortly after.

Wow, such a non big fan of HAC. The affairs were more than "alleged" they were very well documented. He is a contemporary of that whack job at Westboro, their believes are about the same. As for no women's sports, they also have (unless they have had a vision and changed their policy) only Intramural sports. Look at the basketball picture, only on ref, standing UNDER the back board!! They feel that sports are a waste of time except for staying "healthy" Ditto for sex, unless you are JH himself. I visited my friend there a few times. I wore some basketball stuff from my school during the sermon he railed against the wast of time they are. Oh didn't I have fun at lunch with those knuckledraggers!!!

Reminds me of a song from my youth...

Legalistic people suck.
Legalism makes me sick.
I wonder what makes them tick?
I wanna go puke on it.
Ephesians verse 2:8 states: "God has saved us not by works, but by grace."
So whats it gonna take to get through to you?

So whats it gonna take?
Theres no getting through to you.
I'm way too young to have a point of view.

This whole thing just bums me out.
Jesus knows my heart,
but you dont care.
You've already made up your mind,
so judge me one more time.

I try to change my attitude,
but its really hard,
'cause I'm just sick of you.
God is gonna pull me through.

So whats it gonna take?
Theres no getting through to you
I'm way too young to have a point of view.
I'll always be too young.

So whats it gonna take?
Theres no getting through to you
I'm way too young to have a point of view.
I'll always be too young to have a point of view.
I'm not saying it's a lyrical (or musical) masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination, but as a teenager that song was really helpful. You can download it from iTunes, if you're interested.

I grew up in IBF churches, our church I attended as a teenager, did the same thing escorted a woman out who wore pantsuit to the morning service. Same church another time, escorted two women who sat together, hugging and kissing each other. Both times I was not at the church.

From what I have read it is a cd that goes back to their "roots" and puts a new twist on it....so we'll see...people that have heard it say its nothing like they have put out the past few cd's (which weren't horrible, just not that good)...so if this is true...I will be happy...I will get it, but who knows...its hit or miss with them....they put on one heck of a show though...

I saw them just before their first major-label album came out. It was frustrating at that time that I had been a fan from day 1 but never been able to see them on tour until their T&N run was over. In fact, I once had to turn down tickets to see them open for Face to Face at Cat's Cradle in Chapel Hill. It was a special late show, but I couldn't stay out late...

Because I had to come visit LU's campus the next day. Oh to be in high school again. One of many decisions I would take the other route on.

Oh good grief man. The Cradle is a legend in music. Check the schedule, find a show and go. It's only 2 hours from Lynchburg and if it's even a halfway decent show, it's worth the drive. I don't know how many shows I've seen there at this point. I've lost count. Never got to play there, but my band did shortly after I quit. It's not that the building or anything about the place is particularly impressive. It's just the history and the performances that have happened there.

The show I most regret missing at the Cradle: The Smashing Pumpkins were traveling from Atlanta to D.C. on the tour supporting the Machina album. They had three days of travel, and on the middle day they decided to play a surprise show at the Cradle. No fliers, no ads, no announcements of any kind. All that happened were the indie radio stations saying "You might want to go by Schoolkids records and see if you can get some tickets for tonight." They were sold out by noon that day. I couldn't get there until shortly after one. 900+ people got to see that show and I was not one of them. Still bummed.

I've never been to Tremont either. Parents wouldn't let me drive to either one while I was in high school.

I've been to Ziggy's quite a few times.

best concert I've ever been to MxPx at the Webster Theatre in Hartford, CT in '98? or maybe '99. I've seen them a few different times but this was the only one that they were headlining. The opening bands were alright, I can't even remember who they were. Then the lights went out for a second, they came back on and they were already playing. The room was so small the entire crowd was shoulder to shoulder and you were in constant motion. One minute you'd be up against the rail in the front getting shoved by a bouncer, the next you'd be in the back corner. I didn't see the other guy that I went with until the end. And when we were leaving, I was exhausted from trying to keep my balance, covered in sweat, it was pooring outside and I just sat out in the parking lot for a while trying to recover.

Wow! MxPx! This was my favorite band in high school and still one of my all time favorites. Their first 3-4 albums (and especially the first two) I still play all the time. I went to my first show in Atlanta and when they played the remake of Donna I was sold. I saw them numerous times in the powerhouse in Greenville and various other places. They really lost me in the last few years though so I will have to check out the new release. There was nothing like a show headlined by Mxpx with either 90 lb wuss opening, or Value Pac, or even the Supertones. Great stuff.

Cat's Cradle is great....I went there for the tooth and nail tour a couple years ago that had Anberlin and Emery headlining...with Jonzetta, The Fold and Classic Crime supporting....it was a very good show...

And I agree, SJ, you have to go to a show there sometime...there is always good ones there....I haven't been back, but that isn't because there hasn't been shows there I've wanted to see....just lack of time and money....

cool, little town too

Value Pac! awesome. There's a CD I haven't listened to in a few years. It was one of my favorites in High School. I never saw them live. I don't think they traveled that far north.
