not to toot my own horn (like I never do), but if anyone wants to read my post I edited above and tell me your thoughts.

Blessed, the fact is that you do not know. I do not know. Nobody knows. The Sanford Police, who know the facts that you don't, have come to the conclusion based on facts that you do not know, that Zimmerman was acting in self-defense. Why? I don't know. But you don't know either. I honestly don't care that he had been suspended from school due to possession of marijuana. I honestly don't care that you can follow him on twitter @nolimitn---a, which is quite an offensive term.

Like I said, I don't know. But you don't either. You only know what you've been told by the media. And as this entire thread has proven, the media will twist and contort anything to create their desired outcome.

My opinion on this whole deal has shifted as more facts have come out. First I was ready to hang the guy. Now, I am still waiting for proof that Zimmerman went after Martin because he was black. I haven't heard any facts or evidence to even suggest that was the case. It's all assumption and assignment of guilt by those who profit from racial divide. Besides, wasn't it night? Wasn't he wearing a hoodie? Could he even tell at first that he was a young black man?
All that said, Zimmerman should not have followed him and confronted him, if it all happened the way we have been led to believe.

You are spot on flamehunter. Remember Duke Lacrosse? It took months, perhaps even a year before the truth came out.

He didn't purchase menthol cigarettes, 40 oz. of alcohol, blunt wrappers, and what not. He purchased things a normal teen aged-kid, regardless of skin color, would purchase.

The real question is not what Trayvon was doing, but why was the Zimmerman guy looking for trouble. After all, wasn't he told not to press the issue. He sounded like the aggressor to me.
haha sorry thats just funny to me..thugs dont eat skittles and drink iced tea..hahaha

This is interesting. Why would NBC need to edit the 911 call?

Does anybody else think this guy should probably be charged with something? I'm not in on the racism or anything, but we have a situation where we know the dude was following the kid around and seemed somewhat aggressive in doing so. I mean, what about the stand your ground law that everybody keeps citing? Only it doesn't really apply to Zimmerman. What if Treyvon was standing his ground against some weirdo that he thought was stalking him? This whole situation seems like a misunderstanding between 2 guys in my opinion, but even then it comes close to some kind of accidental manslaughter situation where Zimmerman could be held accountable for something. I'm no lawyer though. All I know is that Zimmerman killed Martin, and self defense could be called into question based on how the whole thing started. Seems like enough of a reason to go to court to me.

i think he will be. i assume they are trying to find a charge that will stick. i also assume that is up to the DA to decide. the police can only hold him for a certain amount of time without filing charges. all of this judicial knowlege came from watching law and order i will admit.

What could you charge him with? Zimmerman was wrong to follow him around, but that's not a crime.

He'll be charged with something I assume, because it's very likely the prosecutor wants to make a name for herself.

Was Zimmerman wrong? Yeah probably. Did he commit any crime? Not anything that can be proven.

I don't think he should be charged with anything, that is Zimmerman, nor do I think he will be charged.

It's not because he was following him around. It's because he killed him. The following him around aspect just shows the state of mind. He assumed Martin was a danger to the neighborhood yet he still pursued him. I understand you feeling that it was in self defense, and I think that is a very likely scenario, but Zimmerman was putting himself into that situation. I think that's worth an involuntary manslaughter charge or something to let a jury sort it out.

On the flip side, what if you were being followed around at night by a weird dude with a gun? Would you defend yourself?

I think this is a situation where most folks (conservatives, republicans, etc.) are quick to defend Zimmerman just because all of the racebaiters like Sharpton and Jackson have taken up this as their cause.

correct. even if this kid was an incredulous d-----bag, he more than likely didn't deserve to die. the problem here is setting a precident, giving anyone the ability to make a "i was just defending myself" defense. the problem the DA has is proving that it was not defense. it all hinges on whether or not there is physical markings on zimmerman. if he had no physical harm done? charge him. if you think someone MIGHT attack you, you can't kill them. once again an assumption.

That doesnt make it a crime though. Not all killings are murder. There is a difference.
