So I got my new BB Tour last night and so far so good. One issue I'm having is that I downloaded the Gmail plug-in but I cant find it in any of the folders! I deleted the app, then reinstalled twice, but it's still nowhere to be found, but it's listed as installed. Any ideas on what happened??

Depending on how you downloaded it, it should either be in the "download" folder or the "applications" folder. I'm guessing the latter because I think it's blackberry recommended.

Oh, and also let me add-- although i'm getting emails to my gmail, it's not showing up in my gmail mail folder, but it shows up in the message list. So its going somewhere....

That's where I thought it would be hiding, but it's not in either of those folders :(

is it for the mail? If it's for the chat, I have an instant messenger folder. Like where blackberry messenger is. I'm sure you've checked all these places though.

yeah, in that case if it's a separate app and not some sort of upgrade, it should be in the download folder.

I wanted to post some of the new apps that Ive downloaded that are pretty slick

Ubertwitter - By far the best tweeting app out....blows everything else out the water (free)
Yahoo Fantasy football - nice to keep up with your teams (free)
Pandora - has saved me on the road driving several times without good radio stations (free)
Bible - made by you version really slick software (free)
itookthisonmyphone- whenever you take a picture it will automatically upload it to an online account so you can delete the photo (free)
quicklaunch - speed dial for a text to someone, email or I press W to search wiki from the start screen or G to google something ($$)
Quickpull - I have my BB restart every night at 4am so I start the day with no apps running in the back ground
Xenozu - search youtube and watch youtube with this software (free)
Scoremobile - best way to get stats and scores of games in any sport even soccer (free)
Beweather - the best weather software out on the BB will auto upload the location you are ($$)

To answer the question about google. They do things a little different. Download the Google Mobile App. There you will have a Gmail app, Google Maps app, Search and something else. That's your best bet

I just have my gmail going straight to my phone though through the normal mail button on the phone....works perfect...I also have Google Sync on my phone to keep my contacts updated with my gmail and my google Calender updated with my phone Cal as well

I don't know if your dingleberries support Exchange or not but, if they do, I just wanted to point out that as of today Google is offering push GMail with Google Sync as well. Fancy.

BlackBerry was the only real Exchange option for quite awhile. They are real tools not toys.

I quit using the gmail app about six months ago and haven't looked back. Its so much easier using it like other email addresses on your phone.

I tried to google it but cant seem to find what the difference is. Schorchy when someone emails me it comes on my phone just as quick as it does my gmail inbox....it's been this way for a year or so....isnt that push email? Or am I going to now get IMAP controls or something...i'm confused :(

I have heard that GMail was coming out with this new app for a bit. The old one that was out there was quite buggy. I have been using my gmail account set up as a regular email with no problems. I usually get my email on my phone before I actually get in on my PC. No complaints about Gmail that way.

OH...and HMO...I downloaded Quicklaunch about a month ago and did not know what I did without it. Definitely the most used app I have. I use it mostly for sms messages. You can set it up where you press a the letter "B" and it sets it up to send a text to Bob. Can use it for quick access to apps, websites, phone calls, SMS etc.

Need help:

Went to Pandors.com to try to download the pandora app for my Blackberry Curve. Upon entering the site, I was immediately greeted by a message declaring that the Pandora app requires the 4.3 version OS, which I can only assume means I'm running an outdated OS. Maybe an elementary question, but how do I update my OS, so I may then get the Pandora app?

So I went to use my BB as a modem last night and it didn't work. I called and was informed that they stopped this service and didn't notify me. I am pretty ticked right now. Their reasoning is that phones released after September no longer have the ability to do this so they decided to cut it off the rest of the phones. Calling HMO, what do I do?

http://www.tetherberry.com/

This is what I use. Verizon charges extra per month to tether. This is a 1 time $50 fee that unlocks that tethering ability.

LUconn is right....although you do have an option of dialing using bluetooth if you have a bluetooth laptop...google "Blackberry sprint dialup bluetooth" it's something like #555 or something that it dials to....Tetherberry does offer a 7 day trial though....that's prob the best bet but you will not like it as much as what you had

Are you referencing Tetherberry? What are the fines for?

For using your phone's capabilities. It's about like LU charging those in the stands with binoculars a fine.....you are getting a better view then what you paid for, thus you need to pay the piper.

Yes, tetherberry is atop verizon's hit list. And the fines of some folks have been huge.

I hope they stick with the fines. I only use it when I can't find any wifi and even in that case, what I'm doing doesn't require a whole lot of data transferring. I'm just hoping they don't try to push some kind of update that makes it so it doesn't work. I guess blackberry would have to do that, but you never know who's pulling the strings.

BlackBerry has always stated that the device was intended to be used as a tethering tool. So I am sure they wouldn't be the ones making it not work. If you only use it sporadically then you are probably fine.
