I disagree with a few positions that McCain has, but I do not believe he is a moron. On what do you base that statement? Why are you choosing to vote independent?
i base it off of cnn and by reading the obama website...

but if obama is president it won't matter how much you make, because the government will pay for everything for you. health care, welfare, social security, you name it. if you don't wanna work, just stop by the local government branch and collect

It's not far from that now.

You're right, it isn't but if He is elected, you can seriously kiss away any notion of a capitalistic form of trade and a Constitutional type of government.

I agree with you flamerbob. Sadly, many people who will vote for Obama understand economics about as well as they understand quantum physics. Sad that one can get through college and not know how to disseminate facts. One positive- based on the many changes as Obama has made to his platform in the last 4 months, I predict that he will be a Bible thumping, fair-tax candidate by mid-October!

It's the sign of the times we live in. The liberal's message has basically been, "We can take care of society better than society can take care of itself". To many, that's appealing...it relieves one of personal responsibility. I hate to say it, but the past couple of generations have a "take care of me" mentality. I mean, I have guys in my neighborhood who are in their late 20's/early 30's STILL LIVING WITH MOMMY & DADDY! Thank God my parents are grooming me to be self-sufficient...I HAVE to have a job...I HAVE to provide my own transportation...things I enjoy are considered a privilege, NOT A RIGHT! I must learn to live WITHIN MY MEANS. They even have a rule...at 22, finished school or not, I'm on my own.

But, I can't help but think that the Obama appeal has more to do with image than actual politics...marketing as opposed to campaigning. I hear people my age saying they're tired of the stuffy old suits running things, and that a younger, more vibrant person is what is needed. Great! But what is his message...what does he stand for? All they can answer is "Change". They can't tell you what changes Obama is proposing. All they know is they like him! It's all about marketing rather than the politics, and it's working.

99% of my friends I'm with daily are black...and they all are like "Oh yeah I cant wait to get Obama in the White House!" I ask them why they support him and they cant tell me the first thing....it's just the typical that's who I was told I should support type thing...scary

You bring up a good point as well...for some race is the only issue. But I have black friends who are not so easily fooled. While they say that it would be cool to see the first black President, they don't like his ideals. My black friends have said that many blacks who support Obama think that once in, the black community is going to have unlimited access to funds and benefits.

Really from what I can tell a lot of people arent the thinking type trying to actively learn about the candidates. Many people would vote for Mickey Mouse if they were told to...they have a real lemming mentality

Im serious...a lot of people arent going to take the time, energy and gray matter to learn more about the folks that are running than what they get on all the news networks. If they all told them to vote this thing for president:

I wouldnt be surprised if they did.

not only are you watching the wrong station (you should be watching FOX News), you are also basing your opinions based on media, not the actual issues at hand. Media makes President Bush look like a total moron when in actuality he just a normal American guy who makes mistakes just like everyone does. Yeah, he might say dumb stuff sometimes, but he is not a total moron like media makes him out to be.

lost in all of this is the awesomeness of the fact that

Jesse jackson, the man who has tried his entire life to be a civil rights leader and attempt to get black people on the same plane as white people, completely canceled out that entire lifes work in the last couple weeks....THAT is what he'll be remembered for....hilarous...

Count me among those who think Jesse's life's work had less to do with racial equality and more to do with getting Jesse paid.
