you'll need that 55-200mm lens for shooting at LU games. Even in the front row of a basketball game the 18-55mm kit lens looks terrible from that distance and with that lighting.

I would add to Sly's point by saying that a DSLR is the best way to train an eye. I take MANY MANY more shots than I need to learn how the camera and my lenses react to the conditions. I also do a lot of reading. I love nature Photography, so I use Jim Miotke's Digital nature photography book a lot. He is they guy that started Betterphoto.com. BTW, they do online classes that are great if you can afford them.

I know it. I thought about this shortly after I found them. And, as business plans go, their startup capital requirements really aren't that large. I don't know how many lenses they keep in stock, but considering how often some of them are out, it can't be that many. They just recently started renting camera bodies, too.

thats what i was thinking. if it weren't for that i'd probably just get the 18-55, but i think that would limit me too much
