Again (because I feel like it needs repeating) I don't think it's as black and white as someone having some politically unforgivable sin in their past. You have to take into consideration not only what happened, but when it happened and how it was exposed. Politicians are sleazy with few exceptions. Some might convince you that they're not, but that's usually even more sleazy. Finding someone without any history of these politically unforgivable sins is going to become increasingly difficult, I agree. How many Republican scandals have come to light in the past six years?

People sin. Even leaders. I think there are very few that disqualify them completely from leadership, and the context is completely relevant.

I agree with that. I just don't think past marital problems is that big of a deal in usual cases. Of course there are exceptions to everything. Had Clinton come out and just said, "Yup, we hooked up. Get over it you jealous pieces of crap" instead of lying, it wouldn't have been that big of a deal. Then again, if Monica looked like Marilyn Monroe, it wouldn't have been that big of a deal either.

if we are talking about divorce only then yeah, i believe to not vote for someone who shares the majority of your views just because he was divorced is stupid...

but affairs and out and out lying shows no character whatsoever and sorry i'd like a president that has a little bit of integrity and character....i guess i'll have to keep searching...

but since 50% (statistically accurate i'm sure  ) of all presidents do it, its ok i guess....

yeah, none of this really started because someone has been divorced in the past, it has to do with a pattern of very public immoral behavior. and to think that how a man thinks/acts/lives in his personal life doesn't have any impact on his business/political life is naive and wishful thinking. the military doesn't tolerate it, and most businesses don't tolerate it. if any ceo is found out to be a morally corrupt individual, they are more often than not told to leave. i'll agree that it doesn't happen often because most people look the other way, but when it becomes obvious or public, changes are made. our morality is about as close to our core as you can get, and if that is rotted out, I don't see how it's possible anyone, let alone a whole country, can depend on you.

JFK was only president for 2 years. Probably not a good example.

but for the record that statistic you threw out at the end about the divorce rate being higher among Christians is skewed...yes its high...but the highest?? I doubt it...simply because 60-70% of this country believes they are Christians....maybe even more then that.

But I agree with you, I just hate when people throw that statistic around....
Secular progressive's don't usually get married today. They just shack up. Religious people get married, which is why the divorce rate is skewed.

Why do you like the way the B o P invasion turned out? The Cuban exiles Kennedy sent in got rocked and Castro stayed in power for another...wait how old is he? Kennedy was looked on as a bumbling idiot in the world's eyes until the Cuban Missile Crisis. I think that event is what you were talking about....at least I hope so.

well....the fact that Florida didn't get blown off the face of the earth is what I was talking about...he prevented that...but I am glad you added the rest of the context to this event...it just helps prove why I believe he is over rated as a president...yes he helped us avoid disaster here in our country...but also help set us up for years of communism in Cuba...

SJ - My son has heard the term, in a locker room, on the street, etc. - that doesn't mean I want him to see it on this board.

Please show a little respect - you sound like a punk.

Get the stick out of my butt???

You keep this up and you and I are going to have a very up close and personal conversation.

How old is your kid? If he's in college, he hears it on a regular basis. If he's not, why would he read this board?

Call me whatever you want, threaten me as much as you want, but you can't shelter your kid from everything. The term "blow job" is about the least offensive term I could've used for that. How old's your kid? I pray to God you're not still trying to shelter the one in college from the word.

SJ - I too am a bit disappointed as a father who has let his oldest son read this board that you posted that. But I don't think someone your age and life stage can get that. I know you will one day. In the mean time feel free to poke fun of those who do. I just wouldn't normally expect to read that on a Christian University supporting message board. I just think you could have found another way to let us know what you meant without using the slang term.

OH well, I'll move away now and continue to enjoy your other posts.

That's what I like to call "generation gap." To our generation, that's what it is. That isn't the slang term for it. There are many other slang terms for it, but that isn't it. My bad.
