I think this is what he's looking for.

Mae, Christian? Didn't we have that conversation before on here? That's questionable. I don't think he's looking for a band that just doesn't swear.
Linkin Park didn't swear on their first 2 major releases, but I never considered them Christian.

I don't know the guys in Mae, or their Hearts, nor do I know the guys in the Fold, or any other Christian or Non-Christian Band. What I do know is that I hear the Truth about God sung about their music, thats all.

check out those obscure (at least to me) groups in that thread though- you may find something SOMEONE likes.

I'll stick w/ Ratt, Poison and the 'Crue

Medic-

That thread is just too old, it doesn't have bands that are popular today.

And there is some issue with the "Christianity" of most current Christian rock groups.

oh.

I really had no idea.

I'm a bit behind the times. Say- 20 to 25 years.

Just listened to Springsteen's Born in the USA again last night, followed by Boston's self titled album, then Don't Look Back, then Third Stage.

Speaking of Boston, Stryper's own Michael Sweet sang lead vocals for the band at a Brad Delp tribute up there back in Aug.

And I missed it :banghead

there's a rehersal track on the front page at http://bandboston.com if anyone cares (Quick Time format and I can't post a direct link  )

Michael signing lead for Boston? I'm not quite sure whether I'd like that or not.

Another Christian singer whose name alludes me at the moment sang lead on that 4th album and it tanked. But I actually enjoyed it immensely.

I'd enter into the topic of this discussion but my responses would only make me sound old like medic.

I agree that too many "Christian" bands these days seem more focused on general market success than delivering a real message. This has occurred in cycles over the course of the past 40 years of Christian music. Its also why certain groups that are overt in their Christianity so popular. At least that's my take.

yeah, go with Flyleaf, definitely. I don't know how heavy you want it to be, but The Myriad is pretty good, too (not a heavy group). Supposedly Paramore are Christians as well, and The Almost aren't bad. And take them down memory lane with some old Chevelle, even if they've turned to the dark side. And like medic mentioned, you can default to POD and Blindside.

There's a lot out there but I just don't have time to listen to it all anymore.

They were saying flyleaf isn't Christian, that's why they were brought up.

I agree, they are good. All the bands you listed.

No, Flyleaf is Christian.

Mae has never once, ever, claimed to be a Christian band. I've been told they think it's kind of funny that they are thought of as one.

I thought you had lumped them together.

Misread.

And Relient K doesn't consider themself a Christian band, either. It seems "Christians who happen to be in a band" is the popular thing these days.

These days? Try for the last 10-15 years.

I'm fine with that anyway. The idea of a "Christian band" is as silly to me as driving a "Christian car".

I agree.

And I say these days a lot.

I am 21, These Days doesn't mean a ton, I just use it cuz I like how it sounds. :P

If you want good Christian hip hop check out 116 Clique (13 letters album). This is the best Christian hip hop I have heard. It is flat out solid Christian album.

My jr higher (8th grader) listens to TobyMac, Casting Crowns, HawkNelson, Jars of Clay, Micheal W. Smith, Beatles and some secular. Have fun with the Jr. Highers they are definitely a calling. I work with Sr. Highers and they can be crazy but jr. highers are so squirrely!

If you want to go old school, Stryper and Petra are good ones. Also, while not distinctly Christian, Creed does have some good songs.

What church does your daughter go to? Just curious.

As for dealing with junior highers, it takes someone with enormous patience and charisma. Personally they usually drive me nuts.
