(and SJ--we ALL thought about making the joke).
AG, I think you may have an odometer issue. There is no way a Ford has 220,000 miles. I believe the odometer should probably be reading 22,000

No pics while I'm in the outskirts of Farmvile using dial-up, but the only car I've ever been the primary driver of is a red 1998 Z24 Cavalier...one day I'll buy a Cobalt, one day

Not an issue. The truck in the picture is not mine--just the style and year.

i'll never buy american again unless its a truck or a corvette/viper....pontiac is junk(i'll take a gto but it isn't even a pontiac), chevy has gone retard on their new lines...the only thing ford/mercury has going in the fusion/murano. oh and buick are for old people....i did pit the S60 up against an LS but the deal i got on the volvo was too ridiculous to turn down...$15k on an 04 with 65k? sold...

1988 Dodge Omni....biggest peice of crap ever...I got it November of my Senior year, it was my first car...I was so excited about, for 2 days....it finally died for good 2 days after graduation

1989 Ford Thunderbird....not very special...it was a decent car though

1991 Ford Explorer....worst decision I have ever made....died in 3 months....

and now a 2001 Ford Mustang...which is by far the best care I have ever owned...got it at a dealership in Orlando for a mere 3500 bucks....

The 1997 Saturn SL2----Great gas mileage, yet still a piece of crap

1991 Ford Probe (no jokes, please)
1986 Ford Tempo (yes, she was a classic. The Probe was totaled and this one was just $400 with only 60k miles)
1996 Ford Taurus (sensing a theme?)
1999 Dodge Intrepid

LUConn - Are you still bitter about the gamecubes:) That created a little excitement, but hey, I haven't seen that much energy in there in a long time.

Trooper - Loved my Trooper. Like you, I have not heard to many complaints about the Trooper. They run forever and are fun to drive.

it's a 325i - Volvo? My brother has one and it does drive nice. I still think we both get beat by a top of the line Acura:)

What is scary is that my dad and I had this conversation over Thanksgiving:
Here it goes: (I don't know how to dowload the pics, sorry_

1974 Ford Maverick - Three on the tree, mustard yellow with leather interior. The major problem was that it would stall out at 125, so I had to keep it around 120
1981 - Mercury Lynx Station Wagon - Four on the floor. GREAT for dates listening to music from the other thread. Burgandy "Pleather" interior!!!
1979 Dodge Diplomat 2 dr - The Rule Maker, Law Breaker. Stereo cost more than the car. White w/ red leather interior and.......hold on for this AIR SHOCKS!!! Ohhhhhh the joy of that 8 cylinder engine.....
1981 VW Jetta - I could put the sunroof back and drive with my head sticking out of the top. GREAT for college. 5 speed, silver.
1984 Chevy Celebrity - Back off it was a difficult time in my life
1989 Blue Plymouth Acclaim- only 1500 on the stereo, finally died after 3 transmissions and 180k
1996 Gold Pathfinder SE Mrs Purple liked it b/c we could cruise Wards road with the stereo and all the "little kids" couldn't figure out where the AWESOME bass was coming from!!! She liked it so much she got one
2004 - Montero Sport SE That is currently driven by her Purpleness
2004 Chevy Impala. White. It was great b/c it looked like a cop car. EVERY cop in Rustburg waved when I drove through town
2006 - Ford 500 Black. See Websters' under Mafia Car. You can fit 2 or 3 good sized dead guys in the trunk!!!

PH- bonus points for the air socks. Excellent touch, there.

and those K-cars were amazing. Talk about "boxy, but good". I know guy thats had a couple for nearly 20 years now.

Oh, and if we are allowing the inclusion of work cars here (since I drive my work cars as much, if not more than my personal cars) I need to add th3 following:
  • 1995 Ford Crown Vic (white, departmental striping): bad front end, funky trans,2 motors in it by the end, looked a lot better BEFORE the bus annihilated me that morning

1998 Chevy Blazer (All white): ok front end, funky trans, more room without the cage in the back, may well have blown the motor Christmas eve, currently parked at work.
I'm beginning to think it may be me 8)

All right, I give in and fess up.

Image
'76 Pontiac Sunbird: Everytime I hit the gas the engine would turn sideways and both the driver & passenger side doors were rusted out at the bottom. Mine was white with maroon vinyl on the roof.

Image
'80 Toyota Corolla Hatchback: It was actually pretty sweet even though it looked ugly fromt he exterior. It had a 5-speed engine that had me zipping around traffic like it was Formula One race. Unfortunately I totalled it on Fort Avenue when a German Shepherd ran across my path and I hit it dead on which made my car swerve into one of those big trees that line the avenue before the cutoff tot he old TRBC. And no, I just had liability insurance.

Image
'79 Mercury Bobcat: Mine was dark brown and a 4-speed. When the previous incident happened, my Uncle Ron gave me a car that he was offered $200 for on a trade-in. It probably wasn't worth that. For those that don't remember the Bobcat, it was the "upscale" sister car tot he legendary Ford PInto. Enough said. I drove that car for two years pushing it up opver 180k before it finally died. I had it parked on that hill behind County Green Apts om blocks when I sold it for $15. The guy who bought it from me somehow got it running again and put on $300 mag wheels and I saw it driving all over Lynchburg and smiled every time.

Image
'80 Plymouth Horizon TC3: Biggest piece of junk in the survey by a long shot. Mine was dark blue and rarely ran. It didn't look bad but it was the ultimate lemon. I had repressed this car from my memory banks for nearly two decades untilt his thread. It was parked alongside some old farm equipment for a long time on my grandparents' farm in Ohio until someone mercifully towed it away.

Image
'85 Ford Mustang: The first car I ever owned that I truly loved. It was two-tone silver/gray. It was a blast to drive even though it killed me on insurance payments. But constant drives between Lynchburg, Cincinnati & Corpus Christi rolled up way too many too quickly.

Image
'90 Ford Probe: This car was supposed to replace the Mustang in Ford's lineup but it never met the expectations. Mine was silver and it gave me several years ofl loyal if unspectacular service.

Image
'94 Ford Mustang: When Ford introduced the new Mustang line in January of 1994 I bought one of the first off the assembly line. This is my all-time favorite ride hands down. It was a blast to drive and for the first six months I had people enviously pointing at me as a drove by. But all good things had to come to an end and when Mrs. Sly became Mrs. Sly I entered the land of SUVs. Mine was white if you were wondering.

Image
'98 Ford Explorer Sport: I was driving one of these at work and decided it would make a decent family vehicle. A couple of years later its nasty track record resulted in a free set of tires for me and the impossibility I could ever sell it for what it was truly worth. I've had it for nearly a decade and I still drive it to work everyday (and will continue to do so until its ultimate demise). All said and done, its been a very reliable yet unspectacular means of transportation.

Image
'94 Acura Integra: A close second on this list. I married into this one. It got great gas mileage and was a fun 5-speed to drive around Austin and later Houston. It was easy to sell despite 160k thanks to the timing of the Fast & Furious series.

Image
'02 Chevy Tahoe: Its the family car my wife primarily drives with the kids in tow. By far the most expnsive car I've ever driven and it is extremnely comfortable on roadies (some of you saw it when we rolled thru the 'Burg this past spring). We'll hav this one until it won't run anymore. Mine is maroon but I love that picture with the Tetons in the background.

I love the nostalgia. Just a couple days ago I was looking up picks of my families old cars on the net. Anyone remember a 77 datsun f10? Anyway, I currently have a 2000 honda crv. My 98 camry blew an engine over Thanksgiving while driving on the interstate. That stunk. :x Anyway, I like the crv better, plus it has the realtime 4whl dr.

Above is the pic, but I'm sure you know what a crv looks like.

The Datsun F10 would run forever with that great Nissan engine. But they were rust buckets. It took Nissan a few years to lean how to build vehicles that Americans could abuse.

ive only been driving a few years buts

1987 ford bronco

i had this one before i had my license so i could learn how to drive, got it when i turned 15 and we lived in Washington state. We moved to california shortly after and lost the title so i drove it solely for off roading purposes because we couldnt get it registered in california.

Image

1991 Ford explorer

Didnt get my license until i was almost 17 and then i got this for my birthday. think it cost 2500. Got it in june for my birthday and in september i was driving up a mountain and it caught on fire, fire got to the gas tank, blew up, thus i have an actual reason to call them ford exploders.

Image

1991 honda accord

parents bought me this to replace my explorer, great gas mileage, but no stereo

Image

1979 ford F-150

i bought this same day i got the accord for like 7 or 800 so i switched between the two

Image

1994 ford escort

we moved to illinois april that year and my parents made me leave the accord and 150 saying i would get a new car when we moved cuz my dad had a better job. Instead they bought me this so i could learn to drive in real traffic and snow for a year.

Image

2006 scion xB

for my 19th birthday last summer my parents bought me this, only they only paid for the down payment and a few months, so im still buying it.

'93 Toyota Tercel- 4 speed, 42 miles to the gallon! Lasted me all through college (including a run-in with a 9 year old girl on a bike at 30 mph...her fault). Gave it to my sister when I got a 'real' job and bought my current...

'02 Toyota Rav4- Great car. I haven't had a single problem with it. (knock on wood)

Should I count my wife's '02 Ford Focus? Nah, I don't really want to admit to that one.

sounds like Jaguar.

my buddy owned one w/ a V-12. Talk about a nightmare. Couldn't find a shop to work on it, and there are few dealerships around, even on the swanky East Coast 8)

If she's going to be spending a lot of time in the Serengeti, by all means, spring for it. Otherwise, the car's not all that safe, it's not all that affordable longterm and nothing says "I have my man's testes in the trunk" like a chick sipping a latte and idling along in rush hour traffic behind the wheel of a Range Rover.
