I hate locked threads... if it is a game thread and someone locks it to direct people to a postmortem, that's one thing, but otherwise just let it play out.

It seems as if the majority of threads that are locked (and not just on this site) are locked by someone "because they could."

I get tired of hearing the same arguments over and over too... Koby vs. Shaq, Ford vs. Chevy, paper vs. plastic... how do I respond? I don't read those items. No one forces anyone to read a thread. If something is vulgar or inappropriate... delete the post, but all you do by locking it is draw attention to it and cause people to find a different outlet to express the same opinion.

I'm not picking on LUCONN... every moderator has locked a thread somewhere along the way where I went... "why?" Some boards more than here. There have also been threads where I wanted to ask a legit question but I came in after someone got tweaked off and the thread was already locked.

If rules are broken then take care of business... but if everyone is playing fair then let it go. Just because one persons opinion is that a topic has played out doesn't mean that everyone else feels that way. I say this irrelevant of the current topic... I understand how those of us who support the men's basketball team would be frustrated at the amount of negativity... but think about this.... if the tables were turned and a hateraid drinker was locking every thread that supported the team, that would be frustrating too.

As I have said before, I believe in the open exchange of ideas. If someone is way out in left field, the other "ideas" on the board will police the perception of reality that is portrayed. No need to snuff out the flow of information.

ok, let's take it to the extreme. Would it be ok with you, if the same 4 guys had the same argument about the pronounciation of pecan, spontaniously, in every single thread on this board? No, that's a silly scenario but it shows that there is a line somewhere of that not being ok. How about half the threads? No? Ok every 5 threads. How about if they have their argument in 1 thread? That sounds like a good solution. If a different thread pops up about a pecan pie recipie, sure, why not.

I don't like the opinions on Air America and I think Sports Talk Radio is boring but I have no desire to have it taken off the air.

If a thread is played out it will end up at the bottom of the page... if a handful of people have agendas, what is wrong with them talking to each other. Sometimes Brokeback or AG says something funny and it makes the whole thing worth the while

there is nothing wrong with what has been said, if you think someone is out of line address that person...I understand you say every thread turns out that way, but if people are responding to one another then the people of the board seem to think its ok...I don't think there is anything wrong...you just are so sick of hearing about Coach D...but guess what, no matter how many times you lock a thread because of this issue or any other issue that may come up often it is still going to come up...this is something people care about and want to talk about...its not a big deal...but whatever...I will say this...if things continue to get locked simply because the monitors are "sick" of the topic coming up I will slowly be leaving flamefans...and that would suck if it came to that

you guys act like something is being censored. It's not, it's just being kept in it's place. If anything this would foster growth of the board because people don't have to waste their time filtering through the junk, certainly not hinder it.

The more I read my analogy, the more rock solid it looks to me. I was afraid somebody would blow right through it because I made it up on the spot. So anymore questions, refer to the pecans.

1. I love pecan pie, and this is the perfect time of year for it. As if the calorie count wasn't high enough, MrsPA lets me put whipped cream on it to hasten my cardiac bypass.

2. FSN- I locked all the threads in OTHER SPORTS that were basically narratives on the 2005 seasons, but I waited until the 2006 seasons were underway. It keeps people from inadvertently posting in "old" threads and gives the forum a cleaner look. Rest assured, if there was suddenly a mass outcry for the ability to post in year old game threads, they'd be unlocked just as quickly as they were locked.
