You talk about a coaches kid when they are mentioned as a leader of their team and could potentially fill a void. It's not a bad thing for a kid to get some ink because of his family ties. Look at Maryland and DJ Strawberry... did it hurt him to have that last name? I doubt it. Coach Rocco's nephew is on another thread. In all of these threads the posters (who've been around more than 2 posts) have said positive things.

Why jump in and start throwing elbows for no reason? Read what people have to say and get caught up... right now you don't sound like you see the whole picture. We're glad you registered though... welcome aboard...
Well, I am glad I got props for registering!! All I am saying, having read the article in the paper, having seen other posts and other boards is that, dealing with family can be a touchy thing. That is all. What if someone takes umbridge to me saying he is a step slow for DI? What if RD comes on here and differs? But what can I say, I am a hyporcrite and while I wouldn't have put the topic up, I am more then happy to jump into the fray. Besides, having your elbows out is good rebounding position, something our big men might do a good job learning!!!!

NO KIDDING, I'd give anything to see Monroe punch someone in the mouth right about now, just to get that edge...and then repent of course

Monroe punch someone in the mouth right about now
I think before each game, someone needs to kick him in the nuts. Give him about 30 minutes to recoop, and then unleash him.

I watched Matt play Wednesday against Amherst. Was impressed by his court vision. He was thinking about plays two steps ahead of everyone else, which is good for a point guard. He made one really nice play where he drove baseline, jumped out of bounds and while still in the air fed one of his bigs for a layup. Also hit an NBA three early on.

Good kid to talk to, too. Not as good as his old man, but getting there.

One thing I'll say is that I was REALLY disappointed with the level of play overall. This was the first boys basketball game I'd covered this year and it was just slow, bad basketball all around. Amherst was really athletic but terribly unskilled. I get the feeling Heritage is going to get smacked around at the state level if it makes it that far.

First off, welcome to the board D. I think you might've been confused about the tone of the thread. But its all good. Differeing opinions are always welcome as long as we play nice with each other.

It is fair to question a prospect's size and speed. Those are integral parts of a player's makeup. But I don't feel it is fair to dismiss a junior as a DI player quite yet.

As for the level of play in the Seminole District, I believe that is also fair game. Thanks for the game report, Chris.

I will be going to check out Matt on Saturday night! I am not driving down to Radford tomorrow but I am TIVOing the game and watching it on Comcast Sportsnet. Later in the evening I will head out to Amherst to see Matt. The 29 bypass will make it a nicer ride that is for sure.

Blacksburg police say three men were charged with breaking and entering Wednesday night including Virginia Tech kicker, Cody Journell. Also arrested were Matthew Dunton and Matthew Brady. All three men are in the Montgomery County jail.

Matthew Dunton moved to the New River Valley from Lynchburg about 2 1/2 months ago. According to his arrest warrant, he works at a yogurt shop in Blacksburg.
Is this the same Matt Dunton?

Dennis Carter on WSET indentified him as a "former Brookville basketball player."

WSET calls him the 'son of former Liberty University Basketball coach Randy Dunton..". It doesn't say if he was a student at Tech, just that he worked at a yogurt shop. Not the most flattering of pics, but it's probably hard to look good when you just got whooped upside the head

I'm sure Coach and Mrs Dunton are sick over this. The family will be in the prayers of the Purples.

My VT friends are saying this also involves Dorenzo Hudson, VT's star basketball player. Apparently, he lives at the house these knuckleheads broke into; and they're saying they went to the house because Hudson cheated them on a drug deal.

The other guy who lives in the house, Sean Allen, is a former VT football player.
