Where was the Republican outrage then?
Compassionate conservatism is not conservatism. At least personally I knew it was wrong. We see these same policies with McDonnell here in VA. More compassionate conservatism policy garbage.

Yes, and while not a great thing W's administration
A) Didn't spend millions advertising and advocating these programs
B) didn't make it socially acceptable and a badge of honor.

Similar in the big picture but much more insidious on the 'street' level

ahhh, OK Bush gets a pass but Obama does not. I gotcha.

I don't think either one will go down as good presidents in the long scheme of things so it doesn't really matter. The liberal insistence on blaming everything on Bush and the Republicans insistence on ignoring all the damage Bush did is equally as absurd.

Did Bush run Spanish language ads to promote Food Stamps?
Did Bush spend millions on a PR campaign to encourage people to get free phones and food stamps?
There are several programs around I wish we're not around, but they are. IMO having them and promoting them actively and aggressively are 2 different things.

Did Bush run $70K ad in Pakistan saying the USA had nothing to do with the youtube video that lead to the US ambassador's death in Libya.

I hate how all those programs are run and how far they go but, Obamacare is a monumental step beyond all those.

I am not at all defending obama because I think his desires for where this country need to be goes completely against not only what I believe but what the constitution desired the federal government to be. He is WAY worse then Bush ever was but to completely ignore the crazy spending we did under the Bush administration simply because Obama is worse just makes republicans look stupid.

based on what we have seen now, I'm not sure you could say it was crazy spending under Bush. The biggest,IMO, being Medicare D. Which will be a drop in the bucket compared to Obamacare

The crazy part about this whole thing is that this wouldn't have been a big deal if Rice hadn't gone out there and explicitly blamed the video. If she had simply said, "We are investigating the matter and will divulge specific information when it becomes available," there wouldn't have been any problem here. They knew right away what was going on and they misled the American people for what appears to be political gain. Of course I believe that the whole thing was covered up to protect the president in the weeks leading up to the election, but even people who support Obama and are being honest with themselves have to look at this and make the same connection.
