And Benedict Arnold died of an illness. And previous to his treason, he was court-martialed (fair trial) for other unscrupulous deeds. And all of this before the constitution was even ratified.

But we're talking about Al Awlaki's son, who was MAYBE a terrorist, not a kown vocal enemy. And 16 years old.

It's just bananas to think that if I went on vacation or on a missions trip to anywhere in the Arab world or anywhere that has muslims, somebody has a thumbs up to lob a missile at me if the thought comes into their mind that I'm somehow betraying my country.

I will agree when talking about his son. Not about him.

What does that have to do with anything..all of your above posts referencing same sex marriage and abortion?? Just because it is recognized and legal now or in the near future doesnt make it right. Does that mean we should just give up on what we believe in and stop fighting for whats right???

What did Alumnus' post have to do with mine? Abortion interferes with an unborns right to life...having same-sex marriage legally recognized interferes with no one's right to anything. No one's saying you have to marry someone of the same sex. No one's saying you have to agree with them getting married. If you get a wedding invite for two people of the same-sex, you'll still have every right to raise your hand and say "I object," when whoever asks if there's any objections.

In the eyes of God it will never be marriage between two homosexuals, regardless what the states or Federal govt calls it. You can put lipstick on a pig, but it will never be Miss America.

Whats being taken away is my right to live and raise my kids in a country founded on Christian principles, and that I have a huge issue with it. Your arguement is a slippery slope..if they legalized Meth or any other hard drug...whether you partake in it or not it still has an effect on the country we live in. It has everything to do with the moral decay of this country.

There's a good argument to be made that legalizing drugs would be a good idea. I personally don't think the War on Drugs has worked, but that's another conversation.

Marijuana, at least should be legalized. Alcohol causes far more problem than pot ever will. Ask any law enforcement officer and they'll tell you.

But no, lets continue to throw an entire generation in jail for 10 years for... murder? Nope. Rape? Nope. Not obeying Obamacare? Nope. For smoking weed. Please.

And more the record I morally and spiritually object to personally drinking and smoking, but that's a decision based on my personal relationship with Christ.

There's an argument to be made for legalizing, but "a lot of people go to jail for it" is not it.

There is a mandatory sentence of 5 years for possession of 5 grams of crack cocaine. That's in comparison to the same sentence for possession of 500 grams of powdered cocaine, or a 1:100 ratio. Marijuana is a Schedule 1 drug considered to have no medical benefit despite substantial evidence to the contrary. The current drug laws are ridiculous and make no sense. If the drug laws aren't done away with, they are in need of serious revision.

Disagree. You can still tell your kids its wrong for gay people to have sex. You can tell me I'm going to h-e-double-hockey-sticks for having a boyfriend, that will still be well within your rights just like it is mine to say you're wrong and using verses that were incorrectly interpreted and are taken out of context. Do you seriously think that telling a gay couple they can't get legally married is going to stop them from going to bed together at night?

Founded by Christian principles? Last I checked, our founding fathers wanted freedom of religion, not a state run by religion.

Finally, Meth and other hard drugs (cocaine and the like) have been proven to have negative medical consequences with no benefit. Last I checked, I'm physically healthy, I have a good job, I am able to support myself while owning a house in the mountains and living on the Oceanfront because God has blessed me with the opportunity and resources to do so. I have a gay couple for roommates. They are also physically healthy, with jobs, able to support themselves. The vast majority of my gay friends also have those same characteristics. What goes on (or does not go on) in the bedroom between two consenting adults is no one's business.

The problem is the boundaries will always be pushed and it will never stop...specially with attitudes like this. Wonder why there has been a moral decay in our nation..cause of the left push to squeeze Biblical principles out our nation. Prayer out of school..ten commandments out of the courtroom.abortion..same sex marriage..and who knows where it will be 20 years from now. In my opinion this country was founded on Biblical principles. I know this issue has been debated for many years and I am not going to persuade anyone but if you take a look at quotes from the founding fathers..Christianity played a signifcant part in their lives and their decisions in forming this great nation.

Gay people can do whatever they want at night behind closed doors I still dont want my country to recognize it as a legal marriage.

You've been vaguely suggesting things like this for some time but nobody wants to touch it because it's always off topic. I think we need a thread devoted to ATrain to hash this out.
