I thought I could handle reading through the Grand Jury report but I had to stop after about 4 pages in. There is no term acceptable to this board to label Sandusky but if he's ever allowed to see the light of day again, it will be a travesty. Penn State and JoePa certainly shouldn't be let off the hook for this. . .they could have done more to protect the rights of the innocent but instead tried sweeping it under the rug and now they are going to pay dearly for it.

I am curious if this is Joe's last year, which it should be, if PSU will hire any former asst PSU coaches to be the HC or get an outsider.

Sure he didn't do anything legally wrong. However, ethically he completely failed by ethically doing the bare minimum, which is whatever the law requires. He had a moral obligation to ensure the police were notified of what happened and he clearly failed to do that. His inaction led to this man running free for at least nine years and potentially at least 13, I find it hard to believe that he didn't know that his defensive coordinator wasn't under police investigation in 1998...

That is worth noting...but you do know that if his name comes up that there will be some major cha-ching going on in the AD's office...especially if we go to the playoffs in a few weeks

"If I saw someone harming a child in any way, I'd be in a fist fight."
- Great common sense quote from Herm Edwards today.

I hope Mike McQueary gets some kind of prison sentence out of this and is forced to spend it in some sort of ginger hating correctional facility.

BJ - this is not a Rocco thread, but I don't think Rocco is getting anymore money from Liberty. That is a game you cannot playing every year. He's already the highest paid person at Liberty, by far and is he really worth that much? There are many GREAT coaches that would want the Liberty job - don't kid yourself. With this team - we should be sitting with one loss and top 5 - maybe undefeated...

Of course it has. They sent out an invitation for kids to embellish stories into sexual assault.

Oh yeah, because these guys have so much to gain by telling the world that a creepy old man raped them.

Please. Every single kid who has ever known Mr. Touchy is being grilled by his parents as we speak. You don't think they could be pressured into a more aggressive story? You certainly have your mind made up about this guy. He hasn't even been convicted yet. I'll let the court process play out before I rip him on a public forum, and I suggest you all show some maturity and do the same.

I never thought I would say this, but the students of penn state seem to be the only ones with rational minds here.

Sch14 is right to a certain extent. What about the herman cain thing? Women are popping up all over the place. Not that they would ever have any reason to lie right? (and of course they would, to get money).

I don't doubt the events did happen with Sandusky. But why must ESPEEN trumpet it up to call for Joe Pa's head?

Oh that's right. So you'll be outraged. So you'll keep watching.

That's all I've got to say about this.

Only time I was ESPN is for pregame shows (if I am going to watch the game, that is), games, and their documentaries. I gave up several years ago on watching anything else they put out over the airwaves.

Or maybe I know of a situation very similar to this where details were lost in the finger pointing. One where a man's occupation, relationships and life were completely ruined because a family falsely accused a man of this stuff. Acquittals mean nothing in the court of public opinion.

But if you say my moral conscience would be a good fit for Penn State, I would at least deserve the honor of being associated with other prestigious organizations. USC, Auburn, Ohio State, and Liberty all seem to have the same mindset. Actually, the NCAA does a pretty good job of screwing kids too. I appreciate the compliment.

Paterno runs Penn St.

He knew this problem existed in 1998, and definitely knew when his supposed successor suddenly retired in 1999 at a relatively young age for a hotshot coordinator. He new specific details in 2002. Yet all along he allowed a predator to run overnight camps for disadvantage children without supervision using PSU facilities. Sandusky was allowed to maintain an office at PSU and was seen as recently as Friday working out in the PSU football team's gym.

Paterno, by having the moral compass of a steaming pile of feces and putting the reputation of PSU "doing it the right way" above the safety of children, allowed this piece of garbage to feast on kids for at least a decade longer than should have happened. Paterno is as culpable in this as anyone.

This whole thing exploded in 2008 when Sandusky, who was volunteer coaching at a nearby HS, was reported by a player on that team after Sandusky inappropriately touched him during a private coaching session. The player told his principal who IMMEDIATELY INFORMED POLICE. They began to investigate and uncovered this pattern of behavior. The foundation that Sandusky had set up to give himself a steady flow of victims has existed since 1977. The current status of the investigation is now noticing inappropriate behavior with children by several of the other men involved with it.

At least a decade of this is effectively stopped if Joe Paterno isn't a worthless scumbag and actually puts children above the reputation of the little kingdom he built for himself. Instead, JoePa is not only no longer the coach who built the program that "does it the right way," he's worse than all the others combined. I hope there's a special place in hell for him and his kind.
