I actually think the battery life is much better than it was on the 3GS. I turned off cloud syncing except for the calendar and it made a huge difference.
cloud syncing killed the battery on the guys' at work too.

i'll be either upgrading to the 4s or new galaxy here shortly. i have the 3g still and its starting to crawl and i have to recharge it every night now. it will depend on the new tablet we are supposed to be getting for doing shows and presnetations with. if its another ipad, i'll probably get the galaxy, if its some other pad, i'll proably get the 4s.

I'm downloading a new update that says it will fix a battery life problem. I just got mine so it works fine, but try the update, it may help.

they are pretty much the exact same thing. running iphone apps on the ipad sucks, take angry birds for example. i have to buy it twice if i want the nice ipad version. i have the ipad 1 and the 3g and its actually quite annoying

Actually, many apps are universal and scale, so you only have to buy it once.

most of them look like complete crap. like watching a 240x360 video on full screen.

i'd like to keep my mild aggrevation with iOs devices to a minimum.

While a few apps aren't available for both, I've found that most have an iPad app at this point. I really like my original iPad. Of course, I mostly use mine for minor web surfing and basic apps. The main use for mine use is the MLB At Bat subscription during baseball season.

I'm with mallet in that the less iOS I have to endure the better. I put up with my iPad & iPods but the idea of dealing with it on a phone as well is too much.

I was hoping the Droid 4 would have better specs but it looks like I am still about to purchase a Galaxy Nexus next week when it comes out unless something better pops up.

It was just a software update. Sync your phone into Itunes on your computer and it should appear. At least it did for me. Your computer downloads the update, then syncs it to your phone.

Hah! That in itself is just hilarious. Cutting edge!

You can also update the software over the air. Go to Settings > General > Software Update.

A few things...

Letting friends try Siri on your phone is a bad idea. Siri becomes attuned to your voice the more you use it. It made a lot of mistakes with me at first, but got better in a hurry as I kept talking to it. This is pretty typical of any speech recognition software.

As adam42381 already pointed out, the biggest feature of iOS 5 was dropping the tether to iTunes. You don't need to sync to your computer to do anything anymore. It's just what most iOS users are used to.

As for the camera, I highly recommend reading ArsTechnica's investigative piece "Can the iPhone 4S replace a 'real' digital camera?": http://arstechnica.com/apple/guides/201 ... ny-yes.ars

As for Android... Well, enjoy the ugly rootkit secretly installed on all of your phones that's been reporting everything you do. (And be sure to thank HTC, Google and Motorola for this.):

It totally doesn't recognize my West Virginia redneck accent :(

The voice thing on my android absolutely sucked. I had fun on a car trip once saying things into the phone, and hearing what it thought I said. Pretty funny stuff.
