Yes I know, accuse me of supporting the status quo. Ron Paul had no chance of winning the general election in 08. And don't even try to argue that McCain would have been as bad as Obama.

Also, you know I don't like John McCain, so don't go up that avenue either :D
mccain had no chance once you betcha came into the picture. most that voted for ron paul in the election optimistically hoped it would be a wakeup call to the GOP.

Alright. I'll take your word for it BYD.

Also, rubbermallet, that's interesting because I knew a lot of people of which the only reason they voted for McCain was Palin. Why would McCain pick a conservative to be VP? because he had polling that showed that conservatives were planning to stay home? (granted, some still did).

In my opinion, the death nail for McCain was when he suspended his campaign to bring the bailout when Americans were strongly opposed to it.

Take a look at this polling from New York state (Democratic state of course)

BuryYourDuke wrote:It was over from the start for McCain. Really and truly, Romney was probably the only guy that had a shot to win in 2008, and even that is debatable. The way McCain won the nomination, unfortunately, is all too typical. He pulled off a surprise primary win, and even though most Republicans knew better, they all fell in line like the good little lemmings they are.
I agree with you here.

i can't imagine there were many people on the obama/mccain fence that decided mccain beause of sarah palin. it doesn't compute.

she turned off a ton of voters which has been pretty well documented. not that i thought she would of been a terrible vp. she's twice as smart as joe frikking biden.
