Belize is the new Costa Rica....for now.

Id say that the most exotic place Ive ever been would be Sedona, AZ. If you havent seen the "red rocks" up close and personal, you are missing out on one of the most beautiful sights out there. I used to have a T-shirt depicting "Snoopy Rock" actually

I used to have a t-shirt with a magnified image of a mosquito on it from the Smithsonian gift shop. It was yellow.

Its not the best because when I took it I have just a point and shoot with limited zoom (Snoopy Rock is on the right)

I think I see Yoda sitting on the side of the big mountain on the left.

And Rooster, we'll get the Bucket List thread going shortly where we can dream of the places we want to go.

Im not sure...I never asked. My parents went to the Grand Canyon on a trip they took for themselves...We had hoped to go there but my sister wasnt feeling well (that and my dad had a nasty case of vertigo when he and my mom went)

Umm, Sly, just out of curiosity, that picture of you in the kayak...in the background, that dorsal and tail fin...is that a shark, whale or dolphin?

I had to go back and look to see what ATrain was referencing. It is in fact a dingy with a couple of local fishermen in the Coral Sea. But for the record, it is just off the Great Barrier Reef and great white sharks are native to the area. We snorkeled in relatively shallow water around islands and some WWII planes that were shot down. But sharks are everywhere in the Coral Sea.

And with LUconn on his sabbatical, I'll add his Chichen Itza pic to the thread. I don't want to be presumptuous but that is an extremely cool destination in the Yucatan ...

I haven't even been out of the country ever (unless Tijauana counts). But strangely enough my Bucket list starts with 2 places in the country. I have always dreamed (especially as an amateur photographer) of going to Yellowstone and to Denali. Afterthat I'd leave the country and go to New Zealand.

Our family road trip this summer to Grand Teton, Yellowstone and possibly Glacier. That's my favorite corner of the Continental U.S. to visit for breathtaking scenery. I'm also going Down Under to Australia but I am with you that New Zealand is on my Bucket List as well ... perhaps inspired most by Lord of the Rings scenery.

I've always wanted to do the New Zealand trek myself. It's way beyond my price point and I don't see that changing soon.

Those dirty French, they did that just to laugh at us.

In country, I'd say the Grand Canyon and Yosemite have been my favorites. I guess you could say New York City, but to me that just doesn't seem very exotic, growing up so close to it and going there so many times. Maybe I just take it for granted.

A couple amazing places and very accessible: Newport, RI and any drive through Vermont and Quebec (especially in the fall).

Newport is a great place to visit. Personally for me, I loved visiting Puerto Rico. The island's scenery is amazing. I know this will sound a little strange, but being of Puertorican descent, it was that much more surreal to be surrounded by thousands of people of the same ethnicity as me as well. Definitely my most favorite destination for sure.
