If you're young, think in terms of the Dow at 20,000, not what happens this summer.

This is a website with a free series of videos that introduces you to Warren Buffett's approach to investing. The person who put together a website also authored Warren Buffett's 3 Favorite Books which is currently available to borrow for free from Amazon Kindle. The book is a little too simplistic at first, but the later sections are actually quite good.

Treasure Principle is very good. My only minor quibble is that I don't believe tithing is a NT requirement, but I do still use 10% to the church as my jumping off point for giving, saving, etc.

without too much research into the tithing topic, i think requirements vs an act we do because of the love we have for something/someone is often miscommunicated.

i have to do this, i have to do that...no. you dont' HAVE to do that. THAT is a result/evidence of loving Jesus and making him your king.

The problem one runs into with tithing in the modern context is...which tithe? There were 3 OT tithes. Two were annual and one tri-annual. Unless you're giving 23.3% on average yearly, you're not tithing the way it's descried in the OT. The NT speaks extensively about giving yet never sets a required amount. It simply gives many descriptive accounts instead of prescriptive requirements.

Should you give? Absolutley. Is 10% a good starting point? You betcha.

Much like other key issues in the OT, the NT fulfills/expands on the topic. Don't kill becomes don't be angry. Don't commit adultery becomes don't lust. Give 23.3% to pay for the government, religious leadership, and feasts/festivals becomes pay your taxes, support those in ministry, give liberally to those in need and be a cheerful giver.

Now transport that into the way you save/invest and good things will come from it.
