Alot of the rest of y'all are a tough crowd indeed. Whether we agree with Ted Kennedy's politics personal life and ideas/ideals or whether we don't agree with any of it, he deserves our respect and gratitude for serving our country for 47 years with great passion and in the way that he thought best AND with a willingness to compromise with those on the other side of the aisle. He played a significant role in laws that we all benefit from today. Both he and the office he served in deserve respect.
Ted Kennedy acknowledged many of his shortcomings publicly, said his failures haunted him daily and he tried to live a better life. That certainly doesn't make him perfect but it's more than most of us would be willing to do.
Dr. Falwell thought enough of him to be friendly with him and invite him to speak to the LU student body. Some of the comments here really don't make Christians look too good.
SuperJon wrote:Yeah, saying it's disgraceful to bury Kennedy at Arlington is pretty ignorant. It's not a cemetery for only people who were killed in combat or something like that. The dude gave his entire life to public service. Whether you agreed with his politics, liked what he stood for, or thought he was a good person, the fact that he was a life-long public service worker is enough for me to say it's ok to bury him there.I agree with Jon, Yes, I know I'm late to this thread.
