I wasn't being a "jerkhat". I was being a smart allelic and trying to make light of a bad situation. So paint me a jerk if that's what you want to do. You seem to like to call me names on here for some reason Leo...

You know, Luke, with an education or an English degree, you could do that kind of thing for a living and get PAID for it.
Oh, and "English" should be capitalized, since it's a language. 8)
Touche! And my degree was in religion, so I can't get paid for it! Not that I could anyways!

I suddenly feel smarter for reading the last two pages of this thread, and I didn't even need to stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night. In other news, I just saved a bunch of money on car insurance by switching to Geico.

you talk about English rules as you manage to mis-spell the word "English"

I think Alex English was one of the most underrated players in the NBA. Although a Hall of Famer...you just did not hear all that much about him as he played for the Nuggets.

Along those same lines, Kelsey Grammer has been playing pretty much the same character since his days with Cheers...and is brilliant doing so. He may be one of the more underrated comedic actors of our time.

Alex English was someone who I really enjoyed watching play. Those great Doug Moe teams with Alex and "Fat" Lever were GREAT. Sort of Streetball meets the NBA. There was a commercial awhile back where I believe it was Alex English who said a great line "One thing I could do, is finger roll....." For all of us non-dunkers being able to create nice finger rolls became an art and an obsession. (And speaking of Art, how about Artus Gilmore?? There were sOOOO manygood players back then.) Plus, the old NUggets uni's were one of my Top 5 All Time (Milwaukee, Philly, Indiana(Flo Jo design) and the "Denim Look" Nets being the others)

And let us not forget MODERN ENGLISH who, along with perhaps Gary Newman's "Cars", wrote the eternal 80's anthem "I'll Stop the world and melt with you"> Seriously, didn't you just feel a bit more grown up after listening too that song? Not to mention a great song to make out to. (SCAR, you know what I am talkign about!)

Haha this is just priceless! Purple thanks for the shoutout! Glad to see that my I have had some influence on your posting. Cool must be bored out of his mind to create a thread like this... You come off as a male version of Rosie O'Donnell! (So is that gonna get edited too?)

Religion?!?! And we all know how literate the people who lived in the Old Testament were, and it's common knowledge that Greek and Aramaic used to write the New Testament were comparable to the Queen's English. Or was it Queen Latifah's english.........

For starters, what is with all of the people questioning his spirituality with this decision. This has ALWAYS been the most unattractive thing about LU. Just because you leave LU does not mean you are leaving GOD! I don't care what quotes he said in the past. Everyone says things such as this. Were they true at the time? Sure. But do you know God's will? Perhaps moving to take the LU job was God's will so that when Bennett came to UVa he would be in a better position to move. After all, it is easier to move an hour up the road then across country. He did not lie, he did not "take God's name in vain". he simply spoke what he felt. Life is not a staight line. If you want to complain about him leaving after only two years, the fact there were no post players worth a hoot or that the best recruit EVER (apologies to SCAR) left then so be it. But leave the spirituality out of it!
As for the position. I say that being the #2 at an ACC school is a step up compared to a head coach at a BSC. Some may argue but this is a job I would take. We can go into the state of the BSC as one sign. Sure UVa hoops is going through a down trend. (Maybe that is why they brought in someone who has a Jeff Jones type style!) But it is a step up IMO.
WHere do we go from here? I say we bring in Jeff M, Randy D and Mel H and have them has it out!! Seriously, I have always been a fan of bringing in a succesful coach as a small Christian school (There are several of both) who will see this as a step up, and be grateful for all of the advantages they now have over where they were. Getting to the top of the Big South is not as difficult if ou have experience already being successful. This type of coach would also be one to stick around for awhile and ahve the qualities and attributes that LU is looking for. BUT since that advice has NEVER been taken before I doubt it will be now. Let's bring in a big name who will either fail miserably, or leave immediately!!
Best of success to RMK. He brought LU a lot of success and we should be thankful for what was.
Multiple spelling and grammar errors while trying to sound smart just makes your post irrelevant...
I am not saying I agree or disagree with purple but want to point out that this is a message board not an english class. Please critque his argument not attack his education. This is one of my pet peaves about this board (which I mostly LOVE).
whoever this is i hope to see more of.

chl basically said, he got me but since there are spelling errors i will not acknowlege it

Luke - are you seriously getting on someone for grammatical mistakes??? It's a message board!! We all post on here while doing something else or during the middle of the night. Chill out. After all, I know Haize - and the guys more than capable of stringing sentences together - my guess is that he is much smarter than you.

Lets worry about having fun and talking LU.

ThAT is who it was. I wasn't 100% on Alex, I was picturing a Spurs Uniform but couldn't remember. Was that a Nike commercial? I had the ICEMAN poster in my room where he was sitting on an Ice Throne with two basketball's.

Had the same poster. Ice makes appearances down here in Texas all the time and he is just as smooth as ever.
