UberTwitter drained my battery way too fast. Other than that, I really liked it.

Very true. But that doesn't answer my question. Is that all that Twitter really is?
I quoted this in another thread, but this is how I view it/use it:

"Twitter is a guy you can always elbow in the side and say, "Hey, look, a guy in a clown suit just threw up!" And I don't have 400-800 words to say about that, I just wanted to say that one thing."

That's really all I use it for. I take a picture of something that I see that I find funny and make a comment about it.

Here's my twitter portfolio

It is actually a quick news source as well. I don't like seeking out my news and Twitter allows me to keep up to speed with minimal effort.

Of course it is also a sweet marketing tool. But I don't think that would interest you.

That is 80% of what I use it for. NRA News, NASA News, WSJ, ESPN, New Release Tue, etc.

I follow a bunch of church communications guys who serve me up the latest topics so I don't have to invest the time myself.

I have to say the people who run websites like engadget, for example, are "likeminded folks doing the digging" for me and with google reader i dont get "scads of stuff dropped onto" my phone.

Twitter has been the best social networking application for me out of the lot. I get that some people don't get it, but it's really worked well for me. I have a combination of business, personal, entertainment and news contacts there and I find it valuable in all four regards.

The good thing about twitter is that you don't have to use it and you can even completely ignore it's existence.

I don't get it either, RTF. You are not alone. After reading through this thread, I still don't get the point of it...It's like all you do is say what you are thinking, but why do you even want to do that (because you are bored?)?

Because sometimes you think of something funny, or something interesting, and you think that your friends, people who likely think like you, will also find it funny and/or interesting.

Either that or you want another way to update a Facebook status.
