Genesis : Joe Montana Sports Talk Football (whatever the last version was)

Agree on Tecmo Super Bowl as well. That game really got me into football and football-related video games.

Also, Ms. Pac-Man.

NBA Jam?

Winner.

Also loved Super Punch-Out (SNES), Blades of Steel (NES) and WWF WrestleFest (Arcade) were some of my favorites.

I played WoW at one time but if you don't play for 3-4 hours a day, it's not worth it.

I just played Call of Duty 5 on a 1080p screen and it was the sickest thing I've seen in quite some time
No, I came up with it on my own, the sad thing is I was going to limit it to 10...

I remember the first time I played a next-gen game (Ghost Recon) and it was life-changing...

And the Tiger Woods Series peaked at 05, I think the series needs more real courses and less fantasy ones. Also, my HUGE beef with the game came with the 07 or 08 one for the 360, I would first start out and play a round and shoot like 90 (reasonable, considering that my guy had no attributes). The second round, I would shoot 90 as well (okay, I'm not really trying to win the tourney, I'm just trying to gain experience so I can level up), but that round everyone else shot in the 90s, too! The game adjusted itself to my crappy play! No! That's not supposed to happen!

My roommate Wes and I played so much Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2003 for PS2 it was ridiculous. We both shot a 38 at Saint Andrews from the white tees. Yes it's cheesy to play on easy settings like that but that's a record that's pretty much unbeatable.

NBA Jam has to be on there. I really wish they would bring that back. That would be awesome with great graffics.

True, especially if Guitar Hero / Rock Band is going to be included...

I forgot about Arch Rivals. That game was hysterical.

Arch Rivals was great. I also enjoyed a little Double Dribble in my time.

Also, for PC, I have to mention the Monkey Island series.

And Maniac Mansion for NES.

For you old hags - my uncle had an old Intellivision when I was a kid and I remember playing a baseball and football game as well as a war game where you drove around in tanks. It was really odd trying to play with those big controllers that were the size of tv remotes with about as many buttons.

Agreed.

Breakout/Super Breakout is one of the all-time greats. It seems like there is always a clone/spinoff of that game coming out for multiple consoles and the PC every single year...

I miss the Monkey Island series. Grim Fandango was a decent follow but it annoys me that LucasArts abandonded the genre.

Two or three years back (when I had a LOT more free time than I do now) I gave WoW a shot. I knew a lot of people that played and I had read much of the hype online. So I figured why not?

I played as a Night Elf Rogue and somewhere around level 22 I found myself running around for half an hour in a forest killing small animals so that I could make leather for a bag to keep my arrows in...so I could shoot more animals.

It was at that point that I said to myself: "Self, whyyyyyy are you doing this? This is not fun and it takes a long time. Let's stop now."

So I did. Cancelled my account and I've never ever had the desire to go back. Seeing so many guys I know get near addicted to it only made me feel that much better about that decision.

As for my favorite video games: Oregon Trail for the Apple II, SMB3 for NES and Soul Calibur for the Dreamcast. There are lots of others, but I'm most fond of those three.

Blades of Steel is classic, you lose a fight and get sent to the penalty box.

I was addicted to Monkey Island back in the day. And Dark Forces was a pretty revolutionary fps when it first came out. The sound effect of the guy screaming when he fell to his death is still used in all sorts of stuff.

And the original Warcraft should be included, not WoW.

And the Mega Man series was just about the only game I would rent as a kid, try to beat it in three days.

From when I was a kid, I remember:

Double Dribble (NES)
Casino Kid (NES)
Super Tecmo Bowl (NES)
Legend of Zelda (NES)
Kid Icarus (NES)
Mega Man (NES)

NHL series (Genesis)
NBA Live series (Genesis)
Madden series (Genesis, N64, Xbox, Xbox 360)

Mario Kart (N64)
Goldeneye (N64)
Mario Golf (N64)
Mario Party (N64)

Halo series (xbox)
NCAA Football series (xbox)
Tiger Woods series (xbox)

The best new games IMO are the Guitar Hero and Rock Band series. That is the best group game right now IMO!
