According to the VA elections board site, Perriello is up by 2000 votes with 88% reporting. That means there's approximately 38,000 votes left to count and Goode has to make up those 2000. I don't see how the AP can call anything.

Here in Wake County it was very much an Obama turn out... I voted in VA
