I have a gut feeling that older "brick and mortar" public universities and even public schools will push back against distance/online learning. Private schools and home schooling will benefit greatly. I think that might be the Obama politics in play here.

Ding ding. Exactly. The more free federal money flies around, the more demand for education, thus tuition increases.

Of course, bless they hearts, either Democrats don't understand basic economics, or worse, they know exactly what they're doing keeping youth stuck on government aid. I think the latter.

I took most of my classes on campus at Liberty then switched to the online program for my last 20 hours or so. To be honest, the online program didn't really teach me much. It was an easy way for me to graduate and it worked great given the fact that I was working full time while taking the classes, but I don't feel like I got a "real education" from the online program. I'm sure their are some who feel differently, but I've spoken to many people who took online classes and the consensus was that it was a bit of a joke. Sure, it increases income and gives many an opportunity to earn a bachelor's degree, but it just doesn't feel like I had to do nearly the amount of work I was doing when I was taking classes on campus...

Yeah, I was taking the 400 levels online to finish my degree. I'd heard so many horror stories about both corporate finance and policy that I couldn't believe how little effort it took in order to pass. I'm not saying those two were a breeze, but I probably spent less than 3 hours a week on them. I would always wait until Sunday afternoon to do my weekly work.
I can speak only for myself, obviously not the others that you talked with and found consensus (and I'll add that no doubt I'm not the sharpest knife), but I took a few upper-level business classes online and your experience wasn't my experience at all. I thought the Corporate Finance class was particularly challenging and I spent way more than three hours a week on it, and I learned a tremendous amount in a BUSI 420 Investments class. At least one of my online professors was and is a professor on campus. There was no easy pass in any of these classes, a couple of them were much more difficult than classes I took on campus and they certainly weren't a joke. At least not to me.

finance was actually pretty easy....you just had to pay attention. policy wasnt hard either...just alot of work. those other level 400 classes though were for the most part a breeze.

looking back, i have friends who graduated from other universities with business degrees and i felt that they were prepared moreso for the business world than i. many of them were C students too. for a time when i was reading dilbert everyday, i felt that the boss of the comic was reading out of my text books.

i hope the program has gotten better. i think there needed to be more in the way of Sales training, business law, entrepreneurial studies, and strategy.

Watch out for all the absurd polling going on right now. I said to not look at the polls then, don't look at them while we're ahead either. One shows Obama up 21 points in Washington, but even McCain only lost by 16. That's BS.

You'll also notice that Public Policy Polling is flooding the market with polls for the media's use. They're a Democrat pollster group. So don't be fooled, and if we take care of business we will win on Election Day.

In Ohio, things look bleak for Obama. The margin of victory of 08 has evaporated by early voting. If I heard correctly, he won by ~230k and there have been ~220000 fewer absentee/early voting requests and ~60k more Republican. Further, several polling companies have only polled Cleveland Columbus Dayton and Cincy, not the other small/medium size cities which are heavily Republican.

Yeah, about a week ago polls showed Romney within 5 in WA. And now 21? And it's not just happening there, it's happening in every state (Dave Leip's poll map shows this in every swing state) with Democrat polls infusing every state.

Either way, since the polling agencies haven't changed their algorithms this is pretty solid news.

I am pretty sure over a month ago I predicted Romney would win based on a University of Colorado study that has an economic algorithm method. It predicts how certain economic factors lead to R or D. It has the last 8 presidents pinned because we have more data available. While I don't like either, if I were a betting man, I would bet on the Republican candidate.

Rasmussen is showing Romney up by 2% in Ohio and up by 1% in IA. Things are tied in WI (according to Rasmussen). I still think Obama squeaks out a small victory in WI, but I believe my prediction of Romney taking CO, FL, VA, IA and OH is going to play out once the votes are tallied.

Rasmussen is one of the only polling agencies showing Romney ahead in states like CO, IA and OH.

I want Romney to win just so I can have the amazing moment of changing the channel to MSNBC and seeing the looks on their faces...right before their heads blow up. My gosh. How great would that be?

It was fun enough after that first debate.

Look for the following words and make a bingo card for when Obama loses: racism, women, Bush, confederacy, stole, suppression, black, ohio, 2000, florida, Colon Powell.

I hope you guys are right. My confidence of a Romney victory seems day-to-day. One day I'm feeling it and one day I'm not. I was more confident a week ago. This is truly one we're going to have to ride out and wait and see what happens. I don't think that anybody really knows. I understand the economy tact, but I can't help but think Romney should have continued to focus some on Libya as a campaign issue.
