Nextel Blackberry 8350i

I had it, it's a great phone and a lot of upgrades have been made since I had it. I got rid of it b/c I dont like the Nextel network here in Lynchburg but you wont have a problem in Philly
thank you kind sir.

looking into it as we speak.

so i was just doing some research via shrinkmybill.com and found out this great tidbit that will be stupendous for people who don't use a whole lot of minutes every month. you can get unlimited data, unlimited messaging, unlimited mobile to mobile (only during the weekends and after 7 pm on the weekdays), and 450 minutes for just 69.99. Sprint has the Palm Pre, the Blackberry Tour and several other blackerry phones and other smart phones.

For people who don't make many calls (like me), but want the unlimited data, you just can't be that kind of deal...if you are on the east coast that is. Their coverage map looks pretty darn spotty one you get past arkansas and texas and even in there it's not particularly good.

That's kinda the deal I've got -- we've got 750 family minutes with unlimited everything else. Think it's a hundred bucks a month.

I've heard rumblings that RIM is working on a touch screen Blackberry with a slide-out keyboard (with a software keyboard as well, I believe). I'll probably wait for that one to upgrade; I like the Pre but I'm not thrilled with the keyboard size.

How'd you get that plan with only 750 minutes? It looks like the minimum you can get with a family data plan is 1500. Were you grandfathered in or is it some secret in-store deal or something?

The only thing I don't like about the Storm so far is it seems to crash about once a day.

And last night it wouldn't charge for some reason. It said it was plugged in but the battery didn't charge.

I goofed -- I was thinking 750 for each of us. It's the Everything Data plan for 129.

Our old plan had fewer minutes and was cheaper, but because we added the data and Blackberry Internet thing, we couldn't keep it.

I DO get in-store deals for being a Sprint Preferred Customer, though. We get all mail-in rebates at the time of purchase because we've been with Sprint for 12 years.

Are you making sure you're closing apps as opposed to just backing out of them? If not you've probably got like 10 things running in the background bogging everything down and eventually needing a battery pull.

One thing I forgot to tell you about. Pull the back cover off and you'll notice 2 torx head screws. One is covered by a red sticker with a white dash and the other is just opposite of it. Take a trip to Sears and use theirs in the store if you don't have that size torx screwdriver (not many people do) and tighten those screws like a half of a turn. You'll have to take the sticker off without damaging it because you have to put it back just in case sticker removal messes with the warranty or something. You'll notice after you tighten it, the clicking around the far edges that are kind of just mushy feeling right now, give you much better clicking feedback. I did that about 2 months after getting the phone and it was a huge improvement over something I already liked.

I found out the "close things out" a few days ago. I still can't figure out the power thing. When I plug it up to my computer, it charges. When I plug it up to the charger, it recognizes the connection but doesn't charge.

Sounds like a charger problem.

Not thrilled with the keyboard size. Well now you can have an onscreen keyboard

Download quick pull and have it do a restart every night around 4:00am that way you start every day with everything closed and you dont have to worry about your battery draining or anything...it's free from App World

Has anyone had the issue where you plug the phone into the charger and it automatically goes to the clock screen and then gets stuck there, not letting you go to anything else? I've had it happen twice and had to take the battery out each time to get it working. A simple restart wouldn't do it.

I love the phone but there are just a couple annoying things it does occasionally that I'm not a huge fan of.

I just wanted to give a few updates on some new apps I've come across that are amazing.

Ubertwitter is hands down the best twitter app i've used...I've tried everything from twitterberry, twitcaster, tinytweet, a ton of them and it's not even close as to the best

Beweather - hands down the best weather app...cost me like 5 bucks or something but you can try it free....anytime you travel it will automatically update the weather with your current location and you can watch real time radar for your location

quicklaunch is pretty cool b/c I can do a wiki search and google search right from my home screen and a ton of other shortcuts I couldnt do without it

Vlingo- I know I have talked about this before but their new one is the best I've used...it never gets anything wrong although you do have to pay now. Nothing better than firing out emails and texting in seconds compared to the time it takes to type it while driving

I think I'm about to give up on vlingo. I was hoping it would read things to me. Plus it's taking up a valuable convenience button.

Question for anyone who has or has had a Curve (8330). How is the web browsing on a Curve? I've used the Storm and the Palm, but never seen the Curve in action. I will probably be purchasing a couple later this afternoon, but this was my only concern before I pull the switch.

Ok, Ubertwitter is absolutely, frickin fantastic. I am having a problem with Vlingo. It sends my wife ads after I send her a text. How do I stop this?

I have tried to get the free version of Ubertwitter to work on my 8830 for several days with no luck. It downloads & installs fine. It gives me the zillion permission options. But it never loads up off the icon. I have removed and re-downloaded several times with the same results. Any suggestions before I abandon hope?

One of my friends just got the curve. I don't know if this is actually true or not, but he was told that the curve is virtually the same thing as the tour, but with one major difference - the curve has wi-fi, the tour doesn't. since they are basiccally the same thing, I assume the browsing is the same on the curve as it is on the tour. don't know if that helps, but if you have heard any comments on the browser in tour I guess it would.

I have been using Ubertwitter for about a month on my Tour and it is a fabulous app. But still not as good as QuickLaunch. By far....the most used app on my BB.

Okay, one last question. Tell me why a Blackberry would be better than getting a Palm Pre, both for Sprint.

I'm trying to make my decision, but I'm having a hard time doing it.
