I still don't understand this. Why go through the trouble of calling someone or finding them just to tell them you didn't like something they said on a message board. To me, that's dumb.

wow...the leader in posts (who's counting) thinks it's dumb to actually have to confront the people they talk about through a computer that's not to good

You dont have to many face to face confrontations so I'll tell you how they act.......COMPLETELY different then it was when it wasnt in person

Says the guy who takes a shot at me while trying to tell me to do things in person.

Funny.

If something happens in person, take it up in person. If something happens on the internet, handle it on the internet. It just makes sense to me.

When was this? He knows my phone number, where I work, where I live and all of that. I drive the only car of my kind in this town. He knows where I eat and where I hang out. If he wanted to find me, he could've. I never remember him trying to.

With all due respect, this is a completely outlandish statement. And please, flamerbob, please do not ever ever ever refer to God as the "big guy", He is so much more than that....

Thank you for your criticisms, baldspot. I assure you, I am not an idiot, and I have done my research. Please keep in mind--1. It is my state too, and 2. It's me against about 5 or more other people on here....I can't go into great detail if I wish to respond to anyone.

The goal of the last thread was to talk to Liberty University students that supported Senator Obama as president. You wanted answers...that's what I'm here for. You may not like them, but you should at least be able to see where I stand on the issues.

he's a pushover but he's not stupid. you don't pick the person you campaigned against for all this time as your vice president....it makes you seem like a dumb politician. most people watching that rally where hillary came out and supported him thought it was hilarious BS....because thats all it was....they dispise each other an anyone who thinks different is fooling themselves....

...

and while i don't judge a person by his associates normally, i will judge a person based off the mentors/friends he chosen....and that too shows a excess/lack of wisdom....and his ex-reverend (was a mentor to him for 20+ years) is a racist nutball (don't even question this, if you studied anything about the Black Liberation movement, you will agree)....
That is not entirely true. If it takes Hillary to win this election, which, quite frankly "The Dream Team" (O the cliches....) would knock McCain flat on his bum--then Barack will pick her. I honestly believe that. We could argue this for hours, we'll never truly know.

As far as judging a person by his associates.....I somewhat agree. I DO believe that Rev. Wright was way out of line with many of the statements that he has made. Please do not crucify me for what I'm about to post...I assure you that I am making NO COMPARISON whatsoever....BUT....

even our own Leader (God rest his soul), Jerry Falwell, has made some statements in his lifetime that have either seemed outlandish or have been taken out of context. I have never sat under Rev. Wright. I am slightly familiar with the Black Liberation Movement.....but, I cannot make a call on this. Rev. Falwell has said some shocking things, and he was one of the greatest men of God to ever walk this planet.

Rev. Wright is an idiot in my book, but I do not believe that everything he has ever said is blasphemy. I honestly believe that Trinity Church has helped lost souls. We are so quick to point out the mistakes, but never any of the good. (the same with Dr. Falwell). I am proud that Obama has completely cut off all ties with Wright, and I hope that Rev. Wright takes this time to evaluate himself and to draw closer to God. Hopefully, then, he can make an impact on the kingdom of God, instead of making repeated mistakes that make him look like nothing but a tool of Satan.

Ok, Baldspot. We may disagree on this. I have lived in Pennsylvania for a few years now. Have you ever been to Northern Pennsylvania; such as Scranton or other areas. Racism abounds, almost to a crazy standard. Central Pennslyvania is made up primarily of Old-school baptists, most over the age of 40. I believe Barack's statement was not appropriate, although, not entirely false.
Is this the best Obama's supprters can do - offend over 40 year old, white Baptists from states that are very important to their candidate's election? Is this all we've leaned about race relations since the civil rights legislations from the 60's.
I'm sorry if I've offended anyone. Lets remember, I've grown up there. I feel I have the right to make such a judgement call...I brush arms with these people every day...They are in my place of work, in my church, in my family....Sorry to appear like a blubbering liberal idiot....

While McCain holds a decently consistant voting record on the issue, consider the following

- San Francisco Chronicle (8/99)- McCain stated that overturning Roe vs. Wade would not work because it would lead to more "illegal abortions"

BUT-----

-Remarks towards National Pro-Life Convention (7/08)- McCain said that he was proud to stand against Partial Birth Abortion...

I applaud him for being "pro life", but some things do not add up.

Question- I'm guessing that you voted for Bush. Just assuming... how do you feel about what his stance on pro-life? What exactly has he done in the last 8 years to help the pro-life cause? I commend him for his stance on partial birth abortion...but other than that.....

Aside from the PBA ban (which, by the way is significant), some might say that he has potentially helped to lay the groundwork for the overturning of Roe v. Wade by appointing two Supreme Court judges.

Laid the groundwork...ok, I'll give you that. But after 8 years of laying the groundwork, nothing is still being done. Bush had the opportunity to make more of an impact than he did, we can't deny it. He said what he needed to say to get the conservative vote, then played us like a fiddle. . . I realize PBA is significant, and I am proud of him for that decision....but really... his laziness has cost many unborn lives. I honestly feel that McCain is going to be the same way. . .

As far as Im concerned, 80% of the country can support Obama and that would be fine with me, because I think we all know that you can have a million bumper stickers and do hours of volunteer work for someone and still be too lazy to actually go vote. It really doesnt bother me that the majority of college students in this country think Obama is another Rock star and wouldnt it be cool to see him president, because I also know that for the most part( obviously not all college age obama supporters are like this, but for the MOST PART) come election day, too many of them will be hung over to go vote.

It's kinda hard to change a 35 year old Supreme court ruling with only having appointed justices for 4 of them. But other than that, you guys have fun with this thread. I like all of you so I'm gonna stay off.

Guess my longer post put people to sleep. Sort of like my lectures.......
Anywho...

On other topics I think this election will be decided by Cabinets and the VP. Neither party is 100% behind its candidates. While BHO has a rock star following he is still basically tied with JMac. This DOES lead to associations. Would Republicans be more or less excited if they knew say Mitt Romney was the VP, Rudy was AG or Homeland Security, LIeberman Sec of State or Defense, and Steve Forbes or Protege was at Treasury. This opposed to Kaine as VP, Kerry as Sec State or Defense and Biden as Sec State and Schumer as AG. You tell me.

Maybe you Virginia people can help me out. What has Kaine accomplished as governor? The reason I ask is because it seems like the previous Democratic governor Warner had a lot more going for him and would be a more logical choice as a running mate.

He stated during his campaign that he was pro-life. He stated that he would support a pro-life amendment but would not pursue it. President Bush has recommended strict constructionists for Supreme Court and federal judge positions. He also vetoed the bill that would use US tax dollars for research and development of new FETAL stem cells. President Bush has followed through on his promise.

Let's just put it this way, if Kaine is chosen as his running mate that would give me one good thing if Obama gets the nod for the simple reason that Kaine won't be in VA anymore.

To recap this discussion: we've had two Obama supporters step forward, one refuses to discuss her views and another probably should as well because he has agrees its okay to brand large groups of people as racists. Nice work. Next up perhaps the Obama people can give us their views on the Jews, Hispanics and Gypsies.

BTW, I'd like still like to hear your response to Obama calling his grandmothers' racist tendencies as being just a "typical white person." http://www.philly.com/philly/hp/news_up ... _some.html

This person jumps on here all of a sudden when an Obama supporter is being man-handled. This new poster knows that this is a message board for a Christian school, so what is the issue that they agree with us on? Only the one issue that most people think is the only issue Christians care about, abortion. That makes her one of us, right? She must hold her political and moral convictions on par with the rest of us, right? Okay, but now she loves Hillary and Obama. I smell fraud, or a young college sophomore that hasn't really thought everything through.

And haizy, there's nothing wrong with calling Obama a pinko if that's what you think he is, especially when he has more in common with them than a capitalist.
