Proportionally, the mini 5 is no longer than the iPhone. In that pic, the iPhone measures 2" wide, the mini 5 2.5"; height iPhone 3.8", mini 5 4.8". So for the iphone its 3.8/2 = 1.9, mini 5 it's 4.8/2.5 = 1.92. So such a marginal difference no one would really be able to tell in everyday use.

For every inch in width, the iPhone has 1.9 inches in height....

Who cares what the proportions are. It's bigger......by quite a bit; and it's bigger than most people want for a phone which they are going to carry with them everywhere.

The face of the Dell is 12 square inches. The iphone is 7.6. I think that is pretty significant.

I own a device about the size of the Dell mini 5; an Archos 5 media player. I would never use it as a phone if it had that capability. Too big. I got it because it has an awesome 5" screen and a 60GB hard drive.
