Sean Hannity wrote a wonderful forward to Macel's book and is a friend to many at Liberty.

On the day Jerry past away, I listened to him speak eloquently about Dr Falwell's role in American politics over the past couple decades. He really took to task those in the media that was dogging a now deceased man.

At a time TRBC needed someone in the media to be "decent, thoughful and intelligent" as Raging Tire Fire noted, Hannity was all three.

The music RTF doesn't like is part of a concert series Sean holds each year to raise millions of dollars to fund scholarships for the children of fallen soldiers.

Sean mentions the restaurant noted by RTF when he's giving out gift certificates to those who can't afford the restaurant. Again, he usually gives them to family members of servicemen.

Doesn't sound like a schmuck - BUT THAT'S JUST MY TAKE.

The eyeroll! Yes!

Allow me to elaborate. There are decent, thoughtful and intelligent conservative commentators out there. Hannity is not one of them. He doesn't have a cogent thought in his head and there's nothing that falls out of his mouth that some political operative hasn't handed him. He's made a fortune out of filling up most of his show with articles he's "read" somewhere -- sources notwithstanding --, periodically dropping the phrase "right out of the liberal playbook", and waiting until the last two minutes before a break then putting a liberal caller on the air but cutting them off after 30 seconds and ranting for the next minute and a half before hitting the commercial. Well, that and shilling the steakhouse that the vast majority of his audience can't afford. Back in the day, my dad would have referred to this guy as a "schmuck".

Do I get a middle finger now, Dukey? Come on, you know you want to.
i can't listen to hanity either....he is terribly biased....about as bad as jon stewart.

Just because he's a nice guy doesn't mean he's any good at what he does. I'm glad he stepped forward for Doc but TRBC would have been fine with or without his voice. Day in and day out, I think his show does more harm than good to the conservative cause and I'd take either of the two guys that Dukey mentioned any day of the week.

And I couldn't care less what kind of music he plays.

+1

i can understand you saying "he's not my style", but to deny that he's a decent man and a conservative is ignorant.

It still has to get through Congress before he can make it a law.

Yeah, the only guy who was talking about the economy during the primaries is a nut, but Sean Hannity is the real deal.

We live in very different worlds.

I don't know that Hannity has yet admitted that the economy is in turmoil. Things may have changed since Obama took office, though.

I just saw on CNN that Roberts just re-administered the oath of office to Obama tonight...just to make sure there weren't any hang-ups. They said he got into the robe and the whole deal. Interesting.

They didn't want Hannity and Rush to try to get the conservative underground movement any chance to challenge the legitimacy of our President.

Alot of the conservatives are saying this...and I agree with them.

When Obama said "we are on the mat and we need someone to pick them up"

Their response: I have a home I can afford and make the payments on, I am able to pay my bills, I adjust my living to meet my income...these problems of people "who are on the mat" are ones that got in over their head's, got a house they couldnt afford and living lives they cant back up. These are you problems, not me problems, so dont come to me to help you with decisions you've made and I wont come to you if I was to decide to start living a life that I cannot feasibly live.

Well that's a traditional conservative viewpoint, but why are people so upset right now? We talked on here months ago about Bush bailing out people with bad mortgages. This isn't anything new. I just don't understand why the sky is falling all of a sudden.

In fact, the only things that Obama has changed so far are all things that I agree with. Everything he did today (that I'm aware of) I was in full agreement with. When he does something worth being upset over I'll speak up, but I just haven't seen it yet.

I agree Schorchy....I dont think the sky is falling nor do I believe times are as tough as peoples perception is...I just am speaking now b/c we're talking about it again.

I think these are good times....we're still the country everyone else wants to be like...we're not down, we're not out....even Obama cant ruin our country...a few after him...maybe but he alone cannot

Yeah, agree here. I'm sorta hoping the campaign was to get the office, and now we'll see a guy who gets it. I know that's probably a false hope, but so far I've liked the things he's done and said.

And I listen to Hannity too, and I detest him. I'm not sure why I listen.
