BBWeather just got updated and it's sick...the icon is the actual temp and when you highlight it it gives you the current conditions then click on it and it gives you the forecase...and it's free...heres some info I found that might help yall out...

First install it at http://www.tateu.net/software/bb.php?f=BBWeather from your phone browser and then read below
____________________________________________________________________________________
I don't know if you're as much of a fan of BBWeather as I am (and have been for quite a while), but it is one app I've had on ALL my (four digit) BlackBerries. As any BBWeather user knows, it stoped working a week or two ago. Apparently weather.com changed their feed which is why BBWeather stopped working.

Well someone (don't think they're on PinStack) has been clever enough to fix it! I've updated my Mini Version Tracker list with the new OTA link.

NOTES:
You must follow these steps exactly to get it set up the first time you run it on a Trackball device:

1. Click on BBWeather to open the application.
2. You will get error that says: no weather profiles.
3. Click on the trackball to select OK. Do not click on the menu button!
4. Click the trackball again and it will bring you to the menu.
5. Select Options to get to the Options screen
6. Click the Menu button and select Add to add a weather profile.
1. Enter the desired Location ID:
* In the USA, entering a zipcode as the Location ID will work.
* Outside the USA, you will need to retrieve an actual ID code from this site:
http://www.aspnetresources.com/tools/locid.aspx
2. Enter a description like "New York, NY" or "Home".
3. Select the number of Forecast Days and Units.
4. Enter a shortcut key if desired.
5. Click OK.
7. You should be back at the Options screen.
8. Select your polling intervals.
9. If you are NOT on a BES, make sure you check the box to disable MDS.
10. Select colors if you don't want to use the default colors.
11. Click the Menu button and select Save.

To create more Profiles (cities), click the Menu button and select Options, then in the Options screen, click the Menu button and select Add and follow steps A-E above.

The steps are pretty much the same for Scroll Wheel devices, but the app will lock up if you attempt to hit [Enter] or the Menu button on the initial error. Just Click the Scroll Wheel wherever it says Click the Menu button above for non Trackball devices.

I had version 0.74 installed (versions 0.75 and 0.76 were also floating around in the ether). When I went to download and install it, I was not asked if I wanted to overwrite the older version, so I canceled the download, uninstalled version 0.74, allowed the requested reboot, and installed the newer version. In the process I lost the 8-10 cities I had set up. I do not know if uninstalling the older version first is necessary, but it seemed like the right thing to do. If you have an older version installed and don't uninstall it before installing this version, let us know what happens!

OK, I was going to just use my Mini Version Tracker link above in a shameless attempt to "advertise" it, but here's the direct OTA link:

sounds like a memory/battery hog if it's got a constant feed to weather.com

No, your phone pretty much has a constant data connection at all times (EDIT: let me restate that, you pretty much will have a data connection at least a few times a minute)....and this only will upload data every 30 minutes or couple hours..you can set it

Blackberry App World finally went online recently. It's pretty cool to be able to find hundreds of applications all in one place instead of having to scour the internet for them. Lots of ones priced from free-$5. A few expensive ones too. I'm pretty excited about it.

you know what you should really be excited about? The Storm 2 that's coming out for Vz soon...nothing ticks customers more then when companies re release right after they did the first time.....just get it right the first time!

meh, I like mine just fine. It's getting ragged on a lot, especially by engadget, they hate it. But I have had very few problems with it. It's beyond exceeded my expectations.

I have been in a quandry. I seriously could use a new phone (I'm still rocking a 2-year-old 8830). But knowing what some of the advances are that are just down the road I hesitate to pony up right now. So here I sit toting 2007 technology. Did I mention that I'm frustrated?

You just gotta buy when you need. There's always something far superior 6 months away. You'll be waiting forever.

it doesn't even have a release date yet. I don't think you'll be getting it soon.

I won't have knowledge of near future technology for much longer due to my recent career change. But in the meantime I still have it haunting me. And I REALLY want some of the cool stuff that is about to be released.

Sprint stores are allegedly getting Pres for training at the end of April. Of course, I've also heard rumors that the Pre will be available on the 15th of April, so take that with a big ol' grain of salt. And I've heard a retail price of around $300.

The nice thing about being a Sprint Preferred customer (whatever they call it) is that I only have to wait 12 months to upgrade, and I get any mail-in rebates without having to mail them in.

I'm intrigued by the Pre, but I feel pretty confident Palm will somehow manage to screw it up.

  • 1. flip open

    2. dial a set of pre-determined numbers (usually 10 of them)

    3. SPEAK WITH ANOTHER PERSON WHO IS USING SIMILAR EQUIPMENT (they can actually hear your words, audibly, through a speaker in the top part of the phone)

    4. flip closed (after concluding said conversation)

my phone really isn't that great at doing what medic's does. I think I may use it for that purpose once a week if that. Talking on the phone is for chicks.

We broke down and got BB's this week. We are with Verizon and each got the Curve 8330 which runs the 4.5 OS. I'm loving it so far.

The power supply receiver on my phone isn't working. I was holding out for a Niagara but if they can't fix my phone I may not be able to wait that long.
