Beltran - No
Beltrae - No
Gooden - Yes and was a beast, he struck out 300 batters at age 18 years old, take a moment and think about how many that is
Strawberry - Yes and Lynchburg hasnt seen power like that since balls going into the grave yard across the street
A few more names I'll throw out there (not for best but they sure are good)
Aramis Rameriz (cubs) - Was the MVP of the entire league at age 18 and is putting up huge numbers in the last 5 years
Jose Guillen - actually a good friend of mine and always around top 3 in OF arms....he came up to LU one day with me and some of the LU baseball players knew who he was and asked him if it was true he can throw a ball over the OF fence...he warmed up for a minute stood about 2 feet from the back stop and launched a ball on the line right over the center field fence.
These kids that come into Lynchburg and dominate at 18 isnt normal...they are going against some that are minor league veterans and ages around 26-30. I rather have single A baseball then Double A baseball b/c this is the first true step in the minor league process. If your a prospect you have to step foot into Single A so the organization can see where your at.
Last thing...speaking of Jim Bibby, he was in the Guinness book of world records for holding baseballs in a hand...I believe it was something like 7 or 8 or something
anyways i'm done rambling goodnite!
