I've read of similar scams where people produce barcode stickers containing the barcode of a somewhat cheaper item, then place the sticker over the barcode of whatever they really want to purchase. You can make barcodes online for free and print them out on any pack of label stickers from an office supply store. When you checkout, the cheaper barcode gets scanned and out you go. The trick is to be able to live with a discount that won't get you caught, rather than paying $4.88 for a plasma television. Idiot.

By the way, I'm not advocating that anyone try this. I'm just saying.

Wow! You'd make a good criminal. I wonder how they realised it wasn't their mistake?

When I used to work at Target, one day I was helping them out as a cashier, and some lady was buying almost 2 baskets full of stuff. She also was buying this little cookie that was not ringing up, I asked my manager for the upc number so I could type it in. Well, little did I know that the number she gave me came up as an iron. The head of security called me into her office the next day, and wanted to know why I was selling someone an iron for $0.89.
