crap

wish I saw this thread before I went off in the other one.

only carry 12 clubs- here they are:

***************************

DRIVER: NONE (was a TaylorMade Burner, stiff-flex crappy graphite shaft, but I took it out- can't hit it)
3 WOOD: TaylorMade Burner (LUV IT), steel shaft .............................................................................. 250 yds tops
5 WOOD: TaylorMade Burner (brandy-new this year; see above), steel shaft .................................... 200-225 yds
HYBRID DRIVING IRON: (knockoff Calloway- jury is still out on this club; good days/bad days) ... 180-200 yds

2 IRON: NO
3 IRON: IN THE BASEMENT W/ THE DRIVER
4 IRON: IN THE BASEMENT W/ THE DRIVER

(5 Iron thru 9 Iron: all Tommy Armour Silver Scots, all steel shafts)

5: 160-170 yds
6: 150-160 yds
7: 140-150 yds
8: 120-140 yds
9: 110-120 yds

PW: 100-110 yds unless I blade it- then about 200 yds

  • Driver: Taylor Made R5 Dual
    3 Wood: Mizuno Blue Rage
    5 Wood: Mizuno Blue Rage
    3-PW: Titleist DCI 990
Sand Wedge: Cleveland CG10 56 degree
Lob Wedge: Cleveland Tour Action 588 60 degree
    Putter: Ping Darby II
Balls: Titleist Pro V1x if I can afford them
    Bag: Ogio Grom

I'm definitely in the market for some new irons. Will probably be buying some within the next 6 months or so. I'm a big fan of Titleist irons. I am a 9 handicap so I'm not sure that I'm quite good enough to play blades yet. Maybe if I got to play more than once a month! I'm also looking to replace the CG10 sand wedge. I just like the feel of the 588 much better. I've also heard good things about the new Ping wedges. They look like Cleveland's when at address but the back is a little funky.

Driver: Ram large head...$39 and can hit it as well and as far as my son's Cobra
3 wood: knock-off club $29...hit it straight off the tee or off the ground
Irons: Cobra SSi graphite shaft
Wedge: Ping-eye 2 54 degrees
Putter: I can't putt worth beans so it does not matter
Balls: whatever balls I can find out of my son's bag...prefer ProV 1.

I can't even remeber what is in my bag. With three kids its been so long since I had a chance to play I can't even remeber when it was. Being in the media I get the opportunity to play free all the time ... but try telling a 2-year-old girl that daddy needs to go play for four hours instead of playing with her. Its impossible, I tell you.

What's a golf bag?

I've never owned so much as a tee, even though I was the assistant greenskeeper on a course one summer. Could have played all I wanted and yet I was never there unless there was grass to be mowed.

I'm the same way. I hate golf. It's the most stressful sport in the world.

You only say that b/c it involves walking.

It doesn't involve walking. It involves driving golf carts, and that's the most fun of the whole thing.

Yep. I tend to lean toward perfectionism, so starting golf would just be opening up a giant chapter of frustration in my life. I'm content with the miniature version for now.

I've tried to take up golf on many occassions but I just can't get into it. I just don't like the slow pace. Hit a ball, walk forever, hit a ball, walk forever, it's just boring. I like stuff where you're in action almost all the time, baseball/softball is the slowest thing I enjoy playing.

its more exciting when you play with guys who may well kill you at any moment with an errant shot (or 106) coming at you 90 deg off the tee, 175 mph.

try to duck quickly after a 6 pack of your favorite adult beverage by 11 AM ("its five o'clock somewhere")

entertainment is where you find it.

as they say, "the worst day golfing is better than the best day working"

"they" are right :D

i was wondering where that commercial was going when i saw it earlier.

i figured it was going to be a midget or something. turns out they were for tiger's chitlens.

and my golf bag... i used to play back in high school. i had some fuzzy zellar (sp.?) specials. i doubt they make 'em anymore. real antiques... :)

also a taylor made driver.... it was actually pretty nice.

The problem is that I'm that guy you're ducking from.

I do agree with the working thing though----we had a "meeting" on a course the other day.

Tip: at 1st tee- ask the following: "how's business been?"

Now its tax-deductable.

I'm just as terrible as anybody here. I could play 18 and shoot 110 terrible shots and absolutely hate golf after every one. But man, if you get just one or two really good hits, or sink a long putt, it gets you real pumped up ready for more next week.

correct.

usually my one and only wedge that I stick in there w/in 6' (or a birdie/long par putt) does it for me.

that and wading in the creek to get free shag balls

not that I'm cheap

its for the children
