From the Way:
Convocation

Convocation is an assembly of the University community. Its purpose is to build unity within the community, as well as disseminate information. It provides forums for the social/political issues of the day and other educational topics of diverse interest for the benefit of students, faculty, and staff. Guest speakers from the world of business, politics, education, religion, the sciences, and talented faculty and staff members are presented . Music and timely messages from our Chancellor and President help make Convocation a refreshing and challenging time.

So, here's a chance to scour the web and posit contributions that reflect the highlighted premise:
(Obviously, not all have to be christian, I like that JF and LU welcomed speakers from a variety of viewpoints over the years.)

(Disclaimer: I have not done extensive research on these, just quick snapshots possibly worth a second look.)

3. Walid_Shoebat http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walid_Shoebat
According to the biography on his official website, Shoebat was born in Bethlehem. He was the grandson of the Mukhtar of Beit Sahour, who Shoebat describes as an associate of Grand Mufti of Jerusalem Mohammad Amin al-Husayni. During his youth, Shoebat joined the Palestine Liberation Organization, and was involved in terrorist attacks against Israel. He was caught by the Israelis during a botched bombing attempt and was sent to prison.

Upon his release, Shoebat continued his anti-Israeli activism until he migrated to the US, where he became involved with the Arab Student Organization at Loop College in Chicago. Shortly afterwards Walid worked as a software engineer and became a US citizen. In 1993, Walid converted to Evangelical Christianity after examining the Bible in response to a challenge from his wife, initially trying to persuade her into converting to Islam. He has since studied various historical documents relating to Jewish and Middle East history.

I just saw that Andy Pettite was on one of those sites and I am aware that Curt Schilling is a professed christian...

As a Red Sox fan, it is my opinion that LU's gotta have a Red Sox/Yankee Convo  ....wasn't JF Sr. a Yankees fan?

Andy Pettitte was among the large contingent of Christians on the Astros the past few years. His dad is the pastor of a SBC Church in the Houston suburb of Deer Park. Every year he co-sponsors a big youth rally with big name Christian artists alongside Lance Berkman and other Christian athletes.

Frankly there are a ton of professing Christians in sports. I've had plans to do a show giving them a forum for some time now.

Back in 2005, I think I can say this now but Dr. Falwell told me not to tell a soul or else he would come find me and make me never forget it...but he was trying to bring in Andy...but they lost the W.S and it never was able to happen....As for Doc being a Yanks fan...he was a die-hard fan, we talked every week about the Yanks and the Red Sox, man I miss that...Our last conversation was the week that Lex Luger was here and I had the pleasure of reminding him that we were 6 games up at the time and he said come talk to me in August...Just one of many Yanks/ Sox debates....He always joked about how Manny would be in a Yanks uniform
