i know some of you won't have time to read all this but, i found it quite funny. Its also an interesting look into playing over seas and what perks you get and some you don't.

This particular entry may or may not make any sense, for two reasons:

1. I am sick and so am processing information at Apple IIe speeds.

2. I've already begun to speak in a mutated form of broken Spanish and pidgin English, resulting in sentences like, "Me go store now."

The second will become clear in due time.

What follows is an approximation at the time line of a portion of the last week.

Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., Kansas

I wake up at a leisurely hour, even by my standards -- my need for extra sleep caused by an uncharacteristic 8 a.m. workout the day before. Expecting either no news or bad news, I reluctantly turn on my phone. I find a message from my agent, Keith …

Paul, check your e-mail and then call me back.

Sensing the possibility of interesting stimuli, I do as ordered. Once online, I find a note from the same Spanish agent who had two weeks previously nearly done his job correctly. I learn that a new team wants to pay for my basketball services. A contract is attached, along with a request for a departure date of tomorrow.
