PROVO, Utah - Some students and faculty on one of the nation's most conservative campuses want Brigham Young University to withdraw an invitation for Vice President Dick Cheney to speak at commencement later this month.

So, more or less, even the Mormons are turning on the current state of affairs within the Republican party.

I can identify.

I hate to jack your thread but I'm going to anyway. I was watching BYUTV for a while this weekend, and they had this super boring "general conference" on. I think it was like the once a year moorman governing decision making service or something like that. They did some voting and what not. Anyway, the production quality of that was pretty good, much like a TRBC broadcast. But the commercials were definatly Liberty Channel grade work. One commercial for married on campus housing was just awful. The couple looked like they were from 1988 but the picture clarity made it obvious that it was a whole lot more recent than that. So I guess I'm saying, it's not our channel that is a joke. And theirs is on a big sattelite company.

I'm in the Facebook group "God is not a Republican."

It's amazing how many people dislike the Republican party right now.

I'm very disillusioned with the entire bunch right now.

The R's have had six years to do something worth the votes I've given them. So far we've got military in desperate need of some time on the bench, an unwinnable war, the Patriot Act and Senator Ted Stevens making decisions about the technology that powers Internet. Don't even get me started on their cooperation with the RIAA and MPAA (thanks to hefty lobbying, of course) on their current extortion scheme.

Those are all the things that I NEVER would have voted for them for. Where's the part of moral values? What have they done for the church since they've been in office? Nothing, so far as I can tell. Oh wait. Faith-based initiatives. Great. Government money in churches. That's just what we needed.

That's not to say I agree with even so much as the pantsuits being worn on the other side of the aisle, but the GOP have certainly figured out how to push me out of the party.

And no, I will not vote Libertarian. Any party that honestly supports the legalization of all drugs will not get respect from me.

I only support the legalization of one drug. The Libertarian party is gaining a lot of steam.

That's because they're the "Me first!" party. Fiscally conservative, socially liberal. Keep all of your money for yourself so you can buy more blow. That basically sums it up.
