Alright, Adelphia finally switched over to Time Warner here at home. Adelphia had just been here in King so we never got the commercials from Winston and Greensboro. Since I've been home, I've seen ads on tv for Elon, UNCG, Winston-Salem State, and NC A&T basketball. The ads are so cheesy too. It's pretty sad.

We just switched from Time Warner to Comcast January 1st. But we still have non-stop TWC spots running all over the place.

I'm guessing you now have News 14 Carolina there in King. So there's that ...

Channel 14 is HSN.

The weird thing is our channels didn't change to match the other TWC people across the triad. Our channels are still our screwed up channel list from when it was Benchmark then Adelphia, and now TWC.

I'll bet that will change in the next week or two. TWC wants to add the subscribers to their rate card.

Be careful what you wish for. :D

Seriously, I have no ill feeling toward Time Warner other than the fact they constantly jack up their rates. But Roadrunner is awesome.

I had TWC/Roadrunner at Coastal and loved it. Comcast is raising prices in Lynchburg.

I don't want the hike in prices here at home, but I'd love to have a channel list that actually makes sense. There's nothing from channel 125 to channel 396 which is where they put all of the "music" channels (Fuse, MTV, VH1, etc).

I would love to have TWC in the 'burg. A good friend of mine is the regional technician supervisor in the Raleigh-Durham area, and TWC has stuff coming down the pipe that's just plain cool from a tech perspective.

no idea what you guys are talking about and don't care

I love my DirecTV- no surprises- no outages- same great picture and service for 5 years now, and they keep adding channels.

DishNetwork here. Same as a bove with an extra $5/month for a DVR. Also, the NFL network accounts for about 75% of my TV veiwing. Cable refuses to carry it. The only thing I've found that cable has on me is that my local on the 8s on The Weather Channel is not local. It is very national.

yeah that local on the 8's SUCKS

DirecTv USED to have a local weather channel- you typed in your ZIP code when setting up the system- but they did away with that. :?

I just use weather.com or wait for the local news (or look out the window) 8)

The DBS systems that are in business (DirecTv & Dish Network ... as well as satellite radio for that matter) had to sign agreements to not produce local content as a provision of their license. Eventually that will be overturned. But in the meantime, its set up to protest terrestial signals.

I admit, when I first signed up to Direct TV I hated not having local on the 8's. But then with the advent of high speed internet, now the radar/forecast is just 2 clicks away. Now, you do not have to wait for the local on the 8's!

hmm.... interesting.

thanks for that info- I was wondering why they pulled that- seemed stupid at the time.

guess they are trying to protect the "free" broadcasts? but that really does give an advantage to cable as well, so ???

Its been more of an issue with local radio vs. XM/Sirius.

I'd be a lot more interested in satellite if they had some sort of useable Internet service. As it is, I have to have the fastest Internet connection I can have at home, for work.
