Jay Bakker, Son of Jim and Tammy was on WTF podcast today. He says that Falwell and his men politically crushed his parents, It starts about half way through. Worth a listen, but take it with a grain of salt.

I read Jim's book. I actually liked Jay when he first came on the scene He makes a lot of good points and is certainly no apologist for his parents

I took this from Wikipedia (I know... ridiculous), but I didn't know him all that well. Anyways, is this true?
He also decries the influence of politics in religion, saying that it prevents civil discussion of topics such as homosexuality and abortion.[9] Bakker's church used rainbow-colored communion bread to celebrate the legalization of gay marriage in Minnesota.
