It's amazing what gets a particular couple of posters on here excited. Well, I guess not that amazing anymore, but still.

Being socially liberal (but economically conservative), I was pretty happy to see all the social items that passed yesterday. This included. I've never been a drug user and never plan to be, but that doesn't mean I can't support the legalization based on logic.

At least progress is finally being made on some antiquated social agendas that aren't really based on any fact.

I'm surprised you don't get how this directly relates to issues you support.

I'm very curious to see what the newly re-elected administration will do with this. Will they side with civil liberties and states rights or will they choose to enforce the power of the federal government?

Ha. Silly question. Conflict is coming.

Gay marriage, for example. "Conservatives" want the marriage amendments to be a states rights issue. While I disagree that it is, if you want it to be a states rights issue then you have to consistent and support it on issues like this as well.

Okay, I can see you on that point. But that's not the point being implied here, that being a constitutional liberty, not a state right. Of course, with RM's post, it could have gone in either direction. I guess a little clarity would help conquer misunderstanding. I shouldn't assume too much, but I do stand by my original point.
