And Netflix is pulling those numbers with awful programming. Just imagine what they could do if they actually had something decent to watch.

And has anyone else noticed the pickings are getting slimmer on Hulu? You get the feeling that the producers & networks are realizing that online delivery is not the revenue addition they were expecting. Instead it is eroding their traditional revenue streams. So they are withholding some of their content that they were freely handing out just a year ago.

I love what Netflix offers, but I usually like independent film, Joss Whedon TV shows, etc. and generally hate most big box office stuff. I really don't want a streaming option for the Transformer movies.

Just this week I added the full runs of Family Ties and Cheers to my instant watch queue. That, with the AMC shows, is enough to keep me entertained for quite a while.

I'm a browncoat myself. I've enjoyed seeing Gina Torres in Suits on USA. Definitely worth a watch if you haven't already. It's a poor man's Mad Men. I miss Summer Glau.

Every word of that is true. I've found myself drawn to the 13 show summer format in general. I think that's one of the things that will happen, the death of the longer form TV season. I'm also getting a kick out of Common Law and even enjoyed Fairly Legal for what it is. TV/whatever it becomes is going to have to adjust to people no longer being willing to stick with 23+ episodes over 40+ weeks.

It's too bad that The Cape was on NBC and cancelled after a season. It had a perfect feel for something on SyFy, had a decent storyline, and Summer Glau was playing a surprisingly unique character for her. She was in an episode of the phenomenal Alphas last summer.

I only ask because recently I was paying $85 for 16MB internet and a Digital TV package (HD-DVR). My promotion ended and I'm now paying $140... I tried to get a better deal and the best thing the guy would offer me was a new promotion for $100. He told me I should save money by getting rid of the HD-DVR. I'm now considering canceling service and letting my wife sign up for a promotion for just internet only - but with football around the corner it's so hard to do :(
I'm looking as well. Seems like the monopoly Comcast has on Lynchburg is hurting the bargaining power. I read all the time on Slickdeals of everyone getting these killer deals on Comcast but Lynchburg will never have the same offers. I'm going to have to figure out a way to get a Directv signal.

As for the future of TV. GB and Oprah might be losing a ton of money with what they recently tried but its only because its about 5-10 years to early. I think a "youtubeish" type television will happen. Celebrities will have their own channel (through internet) and offer programming on demand. I respect the leap of faith GB and Oprah took...but I suppose in typical fashion the first generation of innovation rarely come out on top.
